Second federal lawsuit filed over CHOP (Seattle)

SEATTLE - A second lawsuit was filed in federal court over the CHOP zone on Seattle's Capitol Hill. The class action lawsuit claims by allowing the protest zone, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan and Governor Jay Inslee, violated the Constitutional rights of everyone who lives, works, or passes through the area.

Not only does attorney Jacob Bozeman say the city allowed it, he claims they helped create it by installing barricades and bathrooms.

"To abdicate the authority to an unelected, unauthorized and armed group of people to decide who can come and go, who can be searched and seized, and under what portions of the city you can come and go from, for fear of physical retaliation against you, is unconstitutional," said Jacob Bozeman, the attorney who filed the lawsuit.

He says when police abandoned the area they left residents vulnerable.

"This area, the police could not get to you and if you were in any kind of trouble your rights were not going to be able to be protected," said Bozeman.

Seattle Police Chief Carmen best told us early on officers would only go in if there was an immediate threat to life or safety.

That's horrible. But didn't mayor Durkan approve the takeover? That's a shame...

“...But didn’t mayor Durkan approve the takeover?...”

The mayor and the governor now OWN this, hook, line and sinker...no one else.
They originally set this up as a trap to prod the POTUS into taking some kind of federal/military action so that our own PRAVDA could make heyday out of it. POTUS didn’t take the “bait”. Now, they’re left with this huge, ugly, violent mess and neither one of em has the guts or balls to deal with it. And if/when it does finally end, there should be absolutely NO federal taxpayer funds diverted to the shite hole. They set their trap and got caught in it...let em die in it.

“Not only does attorney Jacob Bozeman say the city allowed it, he claims they helped create it by installing barricades and bathrooms.”

in general, governments do not have a duty to act, BUT they definitely can’t act to affirmatively favor one group over another group (such as providing police and emergency services to some citizens but not others), meaning that Seattle’s BIG mistake was to aid and abet those who abrogated the rights of those who live, work, and own in the anarchy zone by installing barriers, porta potties, and otherwise acting to protect the anarchists, thereby actively depriving the businesses, workers and residents affected by the anarchy zone ... these suits may end up going to SCOTUS, but in the long run, i think Seattle is going to wind up paying hundreds of millions of dollars to those whose rights they abrogated by deliberately aiding and abetting the anarchists ...

Too bad this didnt happen in Oregon. OSP and the Feds ambushed and killed a peaceful protester in a snowy ditch for a lot less than the “citizens” of CHOP (reminds me of CHUD).
