Received a gift box from Rush

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: gift; limbaugh; pugmama; talkradio
We received a gift box from Rush and Kathryn today, It consisted of 3 t-shirts, a photo of Rush receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom and a thank you card. It was so touching that he would be thinking of us during a time like this. Prayers daily for his recovery.

All I got was a water bill and a fund raising Trump letter. Why does Trump make such fancy and expensive mailers? I would send a contribution for a post card reminder.

Trump has a “brand”, and the fund-raising letters are part of it. Wile E. Coyote is faithful to Acme (they extend credit to coyotes) and Trump projects luxury in anything with his name on it.

Those are created and distributed by fundraising committees, and there's dozens and dozens of them. To one particular ardent supporter, I'll typically bring 8-14 inches of mail a day (well, not all political fundraising, the wife apparently has a taste for Publisher's Clearinghouse.)

I find it particularly interesting just how many committees there are (and some weird ones where they're mailing out mint 5 dollar bills, so you're talking likely $10 in fundraising costs for whatever contribution is granted...)

And of course, the franking by the congresscritter showing how 'woke' he is to the environment by mailing plastic sheets to every mailbox. Those were a pain and a half.

How did you make that possible?

Rush is not doing his show today and his explanation for not being there, filled me with dread. Then we got this unexpected gift box, and it reduced me to tears.

We sent him messages via his site when he was first diagnosed. We have ordered stuff from his store in the past. I expect each and every person who has done this, will also get a gift box. An amazing gesture.

He sounded good yesterday. I happened to be in the car when he was talking with General Flynn.

Best guess is unpleasant side effects from meds or chemo: the “trots”.

Yeah, he sounded good yesterday. As he explained it, it is fatigue more than anything.

My sister-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer fifteen years ago in August. Her prognosis, at the time, was that she had 6 months to two years. I saw her one month after her diagnosis (Labor day weekend) and told my wife that she would be lucky to make it to Christmas. She ended up passing on Dec 28 that year.

I know Rush has the best doctors money can buy, but Cancer doesn’t care. Really hoping for the best for him.

4 lung cancer fifteen years ago

Circumstances of the illness differ and some progress has been made with treatments. But like you say, Cancer sucks

Cancer is a highly variable disease. No two cancers are the same and even within a patient cancer cells in one part can be different from cells in another part - and sometimes even within the same tumor itself ! They mutate so much. Rush was lucky to have a rare mutation which could be targeted by a drug and the drug he was on was getting a great response. His tumor burden was decreasing. Unfortunately the side effects proved to be not tolerable. He is on a more conventional treatment now but the response the last time he talked about it is not known. But I am sure you knew all that. The good thing is compared to your sister in Law, 15 years in oncology terms is an eternity. Lot of new drugs out there that attack cancer in different ways. I mean look at Alex Trebek. He has one of the most lethal cancers but he has already beaten the odds and still going. Hopefully with today's treatment both Alex and Rush will live for a long long time.

He is probably suffering from the cancer treatment. I was so happy to hear him on the radio all of last week, but that was probably an aberration. I am in full admiration of his desire to be there every day as the voice of sanity in an otherwise crazy, insane, irrational world.

God bless you Rush! We love you!!!!! Teraprayers for you and your family. Take care of yourself, and we hope you are getting the treatment that will eradicate this insidious disease from you body.

Thank you. I was wondering if he had amy ypdate. When I last heard him a week or two ago he said something that intimated that he had accepted this was going to limit his time on the show and perhaps beyond. It was very somber and sobering to hear.

I received the same box today, what a HUGE surprise! I can’t imagine why it was sent to me? I had messaged Rush when he announced his diagnosis... maybe that is why? Not sure how he got my address though?
