The ironic thing about being in an interracial relationship is how rarely race comes up. When my partner and I fell in love, I wasn't falling in love with a white man, and he wasn't falling in love with a Black woman. It was just a man and a woman falling in love.
And unlike the groundbreaking show Mixed-ish, portraying a married interracial couple raising three biracial children, not every disagreement that comes up between us is a "learning moment" on cultural sensitivity or ways to fight racism. Discord for us is like most couples: differences of opinion, being triggered by something the other did or said, old emotional wounds, adjusting to 24/7 quarantine togetherness, or just being desperately hungry.

If you watched TV commercials you would think EVERY couple is mixed race.

Intermarriage has been "a thing" forever. Not all whites are racists. Not all blacks are this woman. Not all Latinos are like Jorge Ramos.
My wife is as different from me as you can get, from gene pools that evolved on opposite sides of the planet.
We make it work because our common culture is Christianity. The concrete that seals the bond is conservative values.

I dunno. I remember a certain black girl in my high school that I would have dated at the drop of a hat.
We live in a nice, safe, middle class neighborhood, 3/4 bedrooms, some in ground pools, with Doctors, only one dirt bag lawyer, some retired old farts {me and a coupla others} contractors etc.
The neighborhood has a single entrance, {not gated} and is a large circle with about 100 homes.
The reason my ex-neighbor was very welcome was that he was a good man, owned his own successful business and took care of his family.
When he moved he sold his house for about $400K and moved into a gated community where the houses started at $900,000 up to $1.5 M.
No one cares about his skin color.
