Where and how to watch Apple WWDC 2020 on June 22

The Worldwide Developer Conference can be found on Apple.com, YouTube, the Apple TV app, and the Apple Developer app and website.

Apple unveiled the lineup for 2020's Worldwide Developer Conference, announcing what was in store for attendees of the annual event. The five-day conference, which Apple said is in its 31st year, will feature deep dives into the latest advances across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS, in addition to a special event keynote.

"WWDC20 will be the biggest WWDC to date, bringing together the global Apple developer community of more than 23 million in an unprecedented, virtual way, from June 22 to 26," an Apple statement said.

"Apple today shared the WWDC20 lineup, including keynote and Platforms State of the Union timing, and information on how developers can learn about the future of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS, and engage with Apple engineers."

No matter where you are, you will be able to stream the keynote address stream at 10 am on June 22 through Apple Park via apple.com, the Apple Developer app, the Apple Developer website, the Apple TV app, and YouTube. For attendees in China, a stream of the event will be available on iQIYI, Youku, Bilibili, and Tencent.

Later that day, attendees will get a "State of the Union" address from Apple's engineering leaders.

From June 23 to June 26, there will be hundreds of sessions aiming to help developers learn how to build a new slate of apps, all run by Apple engineers. According to the company statement, videos of the sessions will be posted every day at 10 am PDT.

There will even be the opportunity for one-on-one time with developers so that attendees can get "technical guidance and in-depth details on how to implement new features."

In the past, Apple has announced a bevy of releases and products that went on to become consumer favorites, including Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR, iOS 13 with a dark mode, MacOS Catalina, iPadOS, and more in 2019.

At last year's event Apple showed off its latest Apple TV show "For All Mankind" and unveiled native support for Xbox One S and DualShock controllers, which were paired with Apple's Arcade gaming service.

The 6K Pro Display XDR monitor was shown to audiences as well as the top features from Apple iOS 13.

According to reporting from Bloomberg, Apple plans to announce a new effort to move away from Intel chips and rely on new processors that are based on the same technology used for in-house products like the iPhone and iPad.

The new chips will be based on Arm technology. Arm is part of SoftBank Group Corp, a Japanese tech conglomerate, and this marks the first time in Apple's history that they will be using processors created in-house.

WWDC - aka DC101 - was where Howard Stern got his start as a shock jock. At least that’s what I remember from first listening to his show on my morning drive to HS around 1981 or so. Of course, it was a favorite classic rock station much longer before that. WHFS 102.3 FM - “Homegrown Radio” - was even better for the newer music trends / not the same Top 40 over and over again at the time.

Oh, wait, not a radio thread? Never mind...

Ma, your best bet is to put your iphone in a bag of rice for a couple of days. If you have an old gas oven with a pilot light, put the bag in the oven and let the pilot light heat help dry it out. Then try charging it. . . If it will charge, quickly back it up to your computer as there is no guaranty how long it will keep working. Back up photos to your Photos app first, the rest, such as emails are most likely still on the email server.

I’ve heard you can also put your iphone in a vacuum sealer bag and use a food vacuum sealer to pump out the air. This will cause the water in the phone to turn to vapor and be removed as the pressure drops. I don’t know if this will damage any other components, though.

Freeper mabarker1’s grandson dunked her iphone6s in water and it’s now non-functional.

She has lots of family photos and other unbacked-up data that may be unretrievable. Any ideas that have worked for you fellow Freepers would be appreciated.

Dunk grandson in water.

Next find out if the iPhone was backing up to the iCloud or to her computer. The classic ‘plunge iPhone in bag of dry rice, leave it there for several days and pray’ technique also has merit.

Have a repairman open it up to get all the moisture out. Good luck from there.

Put it in a ziplock bag with a couple of cups of uncooked rice overnight. May help dry it out.

I’ve had some success with electrical devices using 99% rubbing alcohol. But unless you have some in the house already you are out of luck.

I just revived a walkie-talkie that I had left by the coffee pot and the coffee pot must have spilled over a bit and it was sitting in a puddle of coffee. It would turn on but the buttons didn’t work and the screen display was screwy.

Dripped some 99% alcohol into the various buttons and by the screen and let sit overnight. Was better, but still not functional. Did it again, and now it works!

Already done the Rice thing to no avail. Sorry I forgot to put that in My #5.
I wonder if the Medical Vacuum unit that’s hooked up to the bandage on My Foot might get anything else out of it ???

Thank You.

SM suggested puting the unit, with rice, in a gas oven with pilot lite. Failing the availability of such oven, I would warm the uncooked rice in the microwave (not too hot), put the phone in the rice in a ziplock bag til it cools down, take the phone out, microwave the rice, and repeat a number of times depending on your patience/determination.

The point is that rice naturally attracts/absorbs moisture and gives off heat as it does so. Because the moisture which it absorbs changes from the vapor phase to “liquid” as it is absorbed by the rice. And warming up the rice causes the reverse process - the water absorbed by the rice changes from the liquid to gaseous phase. So your warm rice is bone dry, and as it cools it wants to absorb moisture from its environment.

There is a kinda spooky principle involved. Unless you’re using your vacuum device, the atmospheric pressure is always 14.7 psi, give or take. But the partial pressure of the water vapor can be varied. And the phase which the water assumes doesn’t depend on the total (14.7 psi) pressure but only on the partial pressure of the H2O. Your grandson “varied” the partial pressure of water in a very undesirable way, and you are reversing that process when you do the things being suggested. Only question being whether the effect of the water on the phone is reversible. Hope so.

It’s almost certain that it’s all backed up on the cloud. When Grandma buys a new phone and enters her Apple ID and password it should all reappear.

Your negative pressure medical device might just be the right thing to use. Dropping the air pressure will help remove the water vapor inside.

What kind of water did you grandson drop the iPhone into? I hope it was clean water. Water that was ionized is harder to clean out.

I’m mentally deciding how to hook it up.

The Dog’s Water Bucket.

Your standard galvanized metal bucket with daily fresh tap water containing a moderate amount of K-9 Drool mixed in.

About the only “solution” I’ve ever heard anyone having actual success with involves making sure phone is powered down immediately, then dry as well as possible with a hair dryer on low heat - then stick in a ziplock with dry rice for a few days (or a desiccant if you have access to it).

Beyond that - not sure of any hope.
