BINGO
“And most importantly shoot em til their dead.”
One has to be careful. *When the threat is over,* don’t shoot anymore. Three shots, a maximum of four, usually. The threat is over if the perp turns and runs away, if he stops advancing, if he is lying on the ground, etc.
Not long ago, a pharmacist defended himself and his co-workers. Wounded one perp, who was lying on the floor, immobile. Chased the other perp out of the pharmacy, came back in, reloaded, saw the (unarmed) perp move, fired a shot.
Sentenced to Life.
It is unfortunate that, at one of the most emotional moments of your life, you have to be the most logical ever, according to the law they will throw at you if you aren’t.
There is a very, very thin line for a plea of self-defense. With constitutional carry in this state, I fear there are a lot of uninformed people who are going to learn a lot about the fine print in the law AFTER they defend themselves.
I had a dream last night where a young woman who i apparently knew pulled a gun on me in some backyard right behind a house.
It was a big, chrome semi-auto handgun like a .45 or something.
I pulled out my much smaller hand gun and we had a standoff.
I tried to talk here into putting the gun down but i knew it was no use...she was gonna shoot me.
At one point she wavered a little bit and THAT was when i shot her...The hit was near her lower left rib cage.
She stumbled and i launched at her knocking the gun out her hand.
I’ve been having some pretty weird VIVID dreams lately..
A policeman on extended leave driving a cab told me he had been shot in the ankle by a doped-up criminal who kept firing after being shot through both lungs and his heart with 00 Buck (as his autopsy showed). The cab driver hadnt made up his mind whether he was going back into service.
I don’t see that here often, and when I have, it is written as a joke like it always has been.
Granted, not everybody gets jokes, that’s why some of us include sarcasm tags.
We do not shoot to warn, to wound, or to kill: we only shoot to stop the threat.
Its not that they are myths, its that:
A shot to warn is a shot to stop the threat. Why else are you shooting?
A shot to wound is a shot to stop the threat. Why else are you shooting?
A shot to kill is a shot to stop the threat. Why else are you shooting?
The four rules apply.
As to warning shoots (the four rules apply) or display of a firearm without intent to fire:
Aint everybody got it in em to pop a cap on somebody. (An anonymous gang banger in a documentary.)
Some people seem to believe that its better for a woman to be found raped and strangled to death with her own pantyhose (do they still wear them?) than to explain how she stopped her attacker by scaring him off with a warning shot or displayed firearm when she didnt have it in her to pop a cap in him.
I sat on a jury in a murder trial some years ago. The victim was shot through both lungs and his heart. He managed to run some distance before dropping dead- down the street and around the corner. The handgun was a small one, I think maybe a .25 but I’m not sure.
Even a fatal shot doesn’t drop everyone right there on the spot- especially a fatal shot from a small caliber gun.
I have cop friends that have told me numerous times make sure they’re dead. Don’t ever pull the weapon unless you are prepared to kill someone. Many people have been killed by wounded perps.
“I was in fear for my life, and I want my lawyer”.
Then STFU.
“IT’S COMIN’ RIGHT FOR US!”
One stupid thing I see here often is if you shoot them outside, drag them inside. Just sayin, anyone that dumb is probably going to jail. Even the newest of rookie detectives would figure that one out in a minute or two.
Ive seen people say this on FR several times. If it was a bad shoot youre racking up more charges; if it was a good shoot you just screwed yourself tampering with evidence.
After some really messy, lengthy fights, this man aimed for the head with much more success.

Three times in my life I’ve had the opportunity to kill someone. And all would have been justified. I sure am glad that I didn’t.
With the advent of publicly-available body armor, I tried shifting to "1 to CoM, 2 to the head".
Totally screwed up my reflexes. Increased misses & slowed response 'way down. (And, just "felt wrong"...)
Now: Mozambique -- plus additional headshots if still threatened...
(As it turns, out BFT from the first two is decidedly distracting -- if not debilitating...)
BTW, If you really enjoy shooting, moving up in caliber helps, too...
To stop the threat, my 9 mm will fire legal hollow point ammunition. As to warning shots, I'm thinking that over, as my magazines only hold 8 rounds.
Call 911 before the ‘victim’ or his witnesses does.
I’m here. Have CCW. Shooting is over. Doing any first aid.
Then - quiet
And preserve the scene, any weapons ...
