The only way Universal can pull this off in the short term is to offer kickbacks to the theaters showing hte movie, like 20% of the gross from the streaming sales.

Why do you show up 30 minutes early then? (Meaning, why do you show up on time? Most theaters are now doing reserved seating.

Once that happened, I never show up before 10 minutes into the start time. I mean, I might get there on time, then stand in line 10 minutes to get my popcorn and soda, which is the real reason I’m at the theater, and then I wander in, kick out anybody who scarfed up my seat, and I’m good to go.

I feel like I did the best, if I get there exactly when they tell me to turn off my cell phone.

i like the new ‘reserved seating’ policy.

I also only go to a couple of theaters anymore, that have excellent seats and good customer service. Just found a lovely theater in downtown alexandria, although we only went once before the COVID took away that guilty pleasure.

There are some movies that are made to be seen on the big screen. Example: Gone With the Wind, burning of Atlanta. actually the whole movie was designed for the big screen. Star Wars is another example. A lot of war movies were made for the big screen. All the comedies, romance movies, and dramas don't need to be seen in a theater. Documentaries, indie films, and tear jerkers would be better off watching at home. I would venture to say that 90% of the movies are just as well off watching at home. Can Theater Chains stay in business with the Ten % of the movies designed with big screens in mind? I doubt it.

I know. And they may or may not be watching their own team on the TV.

Also, at some schools people buy three separate things: 1) Club Membership, 2) Tickets, and 3) Parking. I think if you buy Club Membership, you may not have to buy a ticket in order to buy the parking. I don’t know for sure.

My cousin and her husband used to buy all 3 but they got many offers to sell their parking tickets. They’re elderly so they didn’t sell. But eventually the school priced them out. The last straw: when they sent the renewal form with the newest high-priced ticket package, they also included a referral to a partnered mortgage company that promised a good mortgage rate in case you needed to mortgage your house in order to pay for the ticket package!

Big screen is a 75” in my living room 12 feet away. Same viewing angle as a theater widescreen but without the cost and hassles.
