If you read the article in detail, they had several instances where the virus almost escaped the lab over the last several years, so no crystal ball needed when you are intentionally testing the mutation of a deadly virus and almost lose control of it several times, that you might eventually not be so LUCKY and ... I guess our “luck” ran out in the Fall of 2019...
