I took the 650,000 from a statement in the article:
“The Postal Service, which employs 650,000 people, is asking for $75 billion in aid from the government, and, according to The New York Times, another $14 billion to pay off debt related to a retirement benefits program - a whopping $89 billion total.”
Article is wrong I guess.
There has never been a time wheere the postal Service hasn’t been crying about funding. Obviously whatever they’re doing or not doing hasn’t been working for a very long time.
$89 Billion for retirement ‘debt’????? Insane!
The days of daily checking the mailbox on your way home from work are long gone. I check it about twice a week now while standing next to the trash container.....90% of it never hits my desk.
Especially now since I get an email showing what I am going to get in the mail that day.
Sell the Postal Service to FedEx and UPS under federal guide lines.
And for the bonus round sell Amtrak asap.
The hungry monkey gets removed from the tax payers back.
Well we're pretty much the only country that kicks our kids out of home at 18 and puts our Seniors into Institutional holding boxes.
How many more times will this have to arrive and depart Atlanta before it reaches me?

First of all he was driving a truck and there was no one walking behind him. Maybe if you were getting YOUR mail at 5 PM you wouldn’t be so quick to make comments. My husband delivered mail to pay for his college tuition and I can assure you that no one knew where he went after all of his mail was delivered.
Yep!
The days of Cliff Claven have been over for 20 years. GPS. Pings every minute. A delivery persons exact location is known every minute of every day. Nice try though.
"Hello, Newman!"
One more thing, it may be that your carriers route is set up for delivery in your area at 5pm. Want your mail earlier, move closer to the post office is my best advice.
Lol. Yep, once upon a time.
Sounds exactly like the worthless POS who has been my mailfag for the last 22 years. Leaves the mail on the edge of the box with the door cracked only when it rains. Whenever I mail something I go to the next town over where the employees at least appear normal - the ones where I live wear makeup and perfume (guy gays). Yuck.
I’m older and do all those things -— plus texting!! I LOVE TEXTING!!
It’s time for the USPS to go away.
Its in the Constitution. Not going anywhere.
only until I was seven did I live with just my parents and brothers and sisters. Before then it was with my aunt and her family. Before then there were three generations of Italians living in a house on Carroll Street.
until maybe my early twenties many still lived on Staten island and we got together so often and it was so great.
now I am the only sibling still on Staten island. Mom is 10 minutes away. My sisters are only 40 minutes away in New Jersey and they see her once a week but it is not like the old days.
I will never have as much fun as I did when everybody lived together or very near each other
If the post offices only revenue comes from delivering junk mail every day to people who dont want it then something is very wrong. Let it die.
The footprint in our families hometown is all but gone now with just a sister and her husband remaining there..... married at 18, no children, they built their own house and never moved, both in their 70’s now and still in the house they built although they’ve remodeled a few times.
