ping to my post above yours....

Keep in mind, this was a research article in 2006 that specifically references coronaviruses in bats and the propensity of wet markets to act as sources for pandemics

Same thing - ping to my post above this one.

The presence of coronaviruses in bats has been well documented for decades. The concern about wet markets providing an avenue to unleash one of these viruses on humanity has been well documented for decades.

Not everything is a conspiracy..... at one point in human history lead was considered the best metal for water pipes until we learned of the health hazards. We don’t “ingest” lead today because we know it is very bad for us. Same thing for asbestos - a great insulator that later proved to have health consequences.

Again -

Why are we allowing travel to and from any nation that allows wet markets?

If that were accurate, they’d have a world pandemic or regional epidemic on a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis.

I think this virus was weaponized and either accidentally or purposely set loose, and they hoped to contain it quickly, but that didn’t go so well.

Truth is, we’ll probably never know the truth.

My whole point is that we KNOW that wet markets are the most likely interface between human beings and these diseases to include coronaviruses.

Why would we allow them to continue when it is possible if not probable that one wet market just cost us thousands of deaths, tens of thousands of illnesses, and massive disruption and economic pain?

So, what do we do? Nuke them from orbit. Blackmail Chicoms into closing them? Not going to happen.

Got any ideas?

Ban travel to or from any country with wet markets. Pretty drastic pressure to ban the practices. Many of these pandemics are easily preventable by enforcing basic hygiene and food safety rules on nations we trade with.

Right up Trump’s alley.

Sorry, I missed your post. I noticed I said the same thing after I posted but it was too late.

There are a lot of things wrong with our relationship with China, the least of which is our relationship with Taiwan.

We should recognize both China and Taiwan as a country. If China gets upset and breaks relations with us, then that is on them.

No communist country should ever have access to our financial markets.

The concept that if we help China become wealthy then they will become responsible/respectable partners is wrong. It only makes them wealthy tyrants and therefore becomes a bigger problem.

Hopefully, the biggest lesson learned from the Wuhan Virus is that the world cannot trust China and must put their own interests ahead of others. Not just from disease, but also with trade, military, and economics.

One customer, after eating a nice, fresh raw bat, lunged at the vendor and sucked his nice, fresh raw brains out. They both then lurched down the aisles in search of more fresh meat. It caught on. Everyone they bit wanted nice, fresh raw brains from a live victim and walked with that lurching step. But the security guard wouldn’t let anyone take pictures.

Canal Street’s no different. And this isn’t the first pandemic started from China.
