“”Communist China has allowed wild animal markets to offer live bats, raccoons, civets and other species, and a series of studies shows the animals are teeming with viruses that threaten humans.
Scientific studies concluded that the 2002 SARS epidemic likely started from coronaviruses in bats that made their way to humans in Guangdong province. Chinese tastes favor raw bats, snakes and other.....””

It is pretty simple to me. If we are going have unfettered global travel and commerce there must be a basic health safety component. China has been warned repeatedly about the dangers of wet markets and knows that these markets and practices are linked to prior disease outbreaks.
This is the problem with globalism and unfettered migration/travel to all points on the globe. If we were not exposed to people who are exposed indirectly to wet markets I would not care, but here we are.
No Bat Soup Anymore!
F#$%ing A!
What could possibly go wrong?
If the bat eaters want to have their bat markets, we should impose a Cuba level travel ban on Bat Eater Land.
Hell, why not fire up Reactor 4 at Chernobyl while we’re at it?
If those wet markets are open after this is over every country should ban flights from China until they close them. But telling the Chinese not to eat wild viral infested animals is like telling the Italians not to eat pasta or the Japanese to go light on the rice. Ain’t gonna happen.
This suggests to me that they know the virus didn’t come from the wet market.
Just think that might really shut down alot of our “wet market” universities too
There needs to be on the spot testing at all ports of entry for foreigners period. I would think Abbott Labs could produce something.
They opened them back up without the bat of an eye.
I have always been an advocate of strong borders.
Geting passports and visas used to require physicals.
One of the reasons Trump became my candidate very early on in the 2016 primaries was that in his earliest rallies he presented his plan which included miniatures Ellis Island style immigration centers along the border and near international airports.
I haven’t been an unfettered global travel advocate.
Very much to the contrary, I believe that the lack of control has been madness.
President Xi is either a real dumb ass for allowing this or he is one sinister evil SOB. Im going with the latter.
Seems odd that the Party can't put a stop to wet markets. I'm sure that if they sent in the army to go in and shoot every vendor and customer every time a wet market opened, that eventually people would get the message.
As long as we're not "racist."
It came from the Wuhan Level-4 BioWarfare Lab, not “wet markets”.
This must mean that the Chinese government knows the real source of the virus wasn’t the wet markets. It is likely Chinese Bio Labs.
Consider travel to or from China in pre Nixon terms.

WE NEED “NATIONAL DISTANCING” from this Squalorous Pestiferous Plague Pit of a Country - JUST SAY NO TO ANYTHING CHI-COM

Here is the abstract of a 2006 research paper discussing viruses attributed to wet markets in China to include SARS, the avian flu, and the abstract mentions the relation of bats to a number of coronaviruses. This was prior to the swine flu outbreak during the Obama administration and I have put the abstract in quotations below so you do not have to follow the link.
As I said above - the relationship between these markets and potential pandemics is proven and I would like for President Trump and other Western leaders to address this forcefully and in no uncertain terms with China.
ABSTRACT -
In China, close contacts between humans and food animals have resulted in the transmission of many microbes from animals to humans. The two most notable infectious diseases in recent years are severe acute respiratory syndrome and avian influenza. In this review, these two severe zoonotic viral infections transmitted by the respiratory route, with pandemic potential, are used as models to illustrate the role of Chinese wet-markets in their emergence, amplification and dissemination.
Two research groups independently discovered the presence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-like viruses in horseshoe bats. An astonishing diversity of coronaviruses was also discovered in different species of bats.
For the recent and still ongoing avian influenza H5N1 outbreak that originated in Southeast Asia, from 2003 to 21 April 2006, 204 humans have been infected, with 113 deaths. Most patients had recent direct contacts with poultry.
In Chinese wet-markets, unique epicenters for transmission of potential viral pathogens, new genes may be acquired or existing genes modified through various mechanisms such as genetic reassortment, recombination and mutation. The wet-markets, at closer proximity to humans, with high viral burden or strains of higher transmission efficiency, facilitate transmission of the viruses to humans.
