People suffer and die during recessions and depressions via suicide, unable to afford healthcare, etc. It’s a more lengthy and painful end of life than any flu — WuFlu or otherwise.
If you’ve lost a “boatload” in your portfolio that means you’re not pitiful and most likely CAN afford healthcare during bad times. Those people hanging on the edge of poverty every day may not be able to tolerate that loss the way you can. Other people are impacted besides you.
