“The boy scout is motto is to always be prepared. Prepare you and yours, the rest belongs to God.”

+1

I was just listening to a string of Joe Biden wisdoms on the radio. My confidence seems like it’s being attacked on all side these days. My God, this man is an idiot.

Something tells me that this is a pivotal, crucial point in the History of Man, and if we end up putting this absolute dolt in office... I can’t even contemplate this any further, I’m going to lose what little is left of my mind!

God bless you, James.

There must be a pay day in negative naybobbery. I, for one, am very disappointed in you, sir.

Uh, the Schlieffen Plan worked almost to perfection in WWII. What was a really stupid plan was starting Operation Barbarossa in June....

Look deeper, if you are able. The Italian tight connection to China is a factor you seem in a hruuy to ignore so that you can sow a panic level of attention. How will you or America benefit from such a lopsided approach, Matt?

You hijack this thread with your ‘Sky is falling’ hysteria

Now wait a minute. Matt Bracken (Travis) made one post and there followed many replies scolding him for posting it. I don't think that is hijacking on his part.

That being said, I do not completely agree with Bracken here. And I suspect that coronavirus occurred too early to put a Dem in the White House.

His post surprised me, but honestly it was the last straw.....
....our President is working his heart out for our nation

I’m so tired of the Monday morning quarterbacks, the naysayers, the ‘ I know better than the President and his whole team of experts’

I don’t usually tell anyone to ‘ pound sand’ but I did today

Agree. I just didn't think that his one post hijacked the thread.

And you’re right......

It’s not worth it to lose my patience, serenity and appreciation for all I am blessed with.

I need to take a ‘time out’ from FR ......
....and stop getting angry
....and telling folks to pound sand ( sorry Charly)

Carry on

Italy is more than that. Its a critical hub in Chinas short term plan as part of a longer strategic vision. In the near term it is important for Europe and Africa to become more dependent on Chinese goods. Chinas New Silk Road Economic Belt includes a land transportation route through the -stans then Iran, Turkey, and Greece, up through Eastern Europe, Ukraine, up to Moscow, over to Duisberg, then Rotterdam and down to Venice.

Venice is also the end port for the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road that bounces down through a number of ports in Africa before going back through multiple ports in Asia on its way back to China.

It also has a Science and Technology Partnership with Quindao. (Remind you of anything in the news lately?)

Read between the lines on Milans Wiki entry.

Chinas present long term vision enabled by billions in trade in the near future to a significant degree hinge on places like Venice (might want to take a look at that Ukraine situation more closely along the way).

“But we are talking about Milan.”

China isnt sending a million farmers with shovels. Milan is just up the road from Venice and thats where many of the big banks are.

No, you are fine. I was thinking of a guy at the chess club who had a steaming pantload about how Pence “doesn’t believe in science.” Your “Pound sand” is more tactful than my “Blow it out your shorts” would have been.

I hope the Italians wake up.
Asking the Chinese in is much easier than showing them the door.
President Trump has started the decoupling process for America. Chinese behavior, tariffs and the cornoavirus have accelerated the decoupling. I hope POTUS continues to structure things so that companies find it in their self interest to manufacture in America. We need local production of all necessities because having a potential enemy hold your life line is a recipe for disaster. The Italians rolled the Trojan horse right through the gates & congratulated themselves for seizing opportunity.

The Left are such fools squabbling when the Country is in danger, hampering POTUS ability to negotiate and maneuver us into a secure position, economically & militarily.

There is no use trying to have a dialog or reason with Travis. He is a man with a mission. Like the global warming alarmists he pushes models and graphs without understanding that there are underlying assumptions that can be wrong. There are a couple other sky is falling posters who piggy back. They are oblivious to history of prior outbreaks where very dramatic courses were predicted and actual cases were less than 10% predicted, often much less.

A reminder about projections for the last Ebola outbreak was posted by dynoman yesterday.

This was the original projection of Ebola spread rate at current trend by Apr 2015
World Apr, 2015 - Infected: 332,177 Dead: 199,306

Numbers for the USA starting with patient 0 in Texas
Apr, 2015 - Infected: 21,020 Dead: 14,714 If ROI: 3.47
Apr, 2015 - Infected: _2,088 Dead: _1,462 If ROI: 2.6

These are the numbers of people that were actually infected Actual world total April 28, 2015
April, 2015 - Infected: 14931 Dead 10905

Actual US
April, 2015 - Infected: 4 Dead 1

Source; http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/outbreaks/2014-west-africa/case-counts.html

We will have to take sensible precautions to lower risk and wait & see how this outbreak develops. All of the other countries infections showed the normal curve of sharply increasing cases a small plateau and then diminishing cases over a few weeks. I doubt the USA will be different.

Note the_ above are to make the columns line up.

Interesting to put it this way; the the projected death rate in the US was off by a factor of 14,000.

I was only off by a factor of 1,400. Thank you for clarifying and correcting.

The actual magnitude of the overestimates for Ebola prevalence & mortality gives context for evaluating the current projections. I primarily wanted to get your analysis reposted so it could be more widely seen. We can all use context.

Some of the alarmists have been attacking so ferociously that I took time off FR. I used your world #’s and understated those too. Mea Culpa.
