Mother of John McCain turns 108 years old, credits 'sense of humor' for long life

Roberta McCain, the mother of the late Sen. John McCain, celebrated her 108th birthday on Friday.

Her granddaughter, Meghan McCain, tweeted out the news.

"Happy 108th Birthday to my nana Roberta. You are our matriarch," the conservative co-host of ABC's The View said. "Completely ageless, classic, lovely, strong, smart, sarcastic, irreverent and all things I love in this world. We are so grateful for you."

McCain, 35, also shared the secret to her grandmother's long life on The View after host Sunny Hostin asked: "Have you ever asked her what her secret is to longevity?"

"She said, 'A sense of humor,'" Meghan McCain replied, adding that her grandmother "just loves life" and is a passionate watcher of the show.

Roberta McCain was born in Oklahoma in 1912, and she married Navy Adm. John McCain Jr. in 1933. She has over two dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roberta McCain is also a world traveler, and age has done little to slow her down. She made the trip to Europe in her 90s.

In August 2018, she attended the funeral of her son John McCain after he died at the age of 81 from a brain tumor.

That’s old.

She should probably start shifting her portfolio into lower risk investments.

I believe she’s onto something.

Every afternoon, I try to experience deep belly laughs. Reruns of Jonathan Winters, Henny Youngman, Rodney Dangerfield, Don Rickles, Jack Benny, Stephen Wright, and Seinfeld reruns are a good prescription.

[Good for her.]

Yes, absolutely.

21:1 But Job answered and said,

Job 21:7-15 King James Version (KJV)

7 Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?

8 Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.

9 Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

10 Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

11 They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

12 They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

14 Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

If you like ‘Seinfeld’, give ‘The Office’ (US version) a try.

For some reason, I never watched ‘The Office’ when it was on its first run. But now I’m addicted to it.

Warning: The show really went downhill when the Michael Scott character (Steve Carell) left. So if Steve Carell isn’t in the opening credits, go back to watching Jerry and the gang.

Of course she had a sense of humor, her son was a joke.

He pulled one for many years fooling people into thinking he was a conservative, and that right there is funny!!!!!!

Ok not humor funny but sad irony funny...

Why do women today always have to stress how strong a woman is.....

Or independent

We’re women really so miserable from recorded time until 1970?

I was around pre 1970 ...13

I remember women happy and maternal and more admirable in their behavior

They’ve given over to their base instincts sadly
