Reynolds was at his best when he was in the TV director’s chair. He helmed hundreds of episodes, including 74 of My Three Sons, 34 of Hogan’s Heroes, eight of Room 222, 24 of M*A*S*H and 11 of Lou Grant, and he also guided installments of Leave It to Beaver, The Andy Griffith Show, The Munsters, F Troop, Mannix, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Touched by an Angel.
I think the optics of Nancy ripping of the speech were perfect. He commended Americans and American determination and she exposed herself by ripping it all up.
Others’ comments make me wonder if her copy had choice words directed at her (didn’t match the real speech) which, entertain the thought for a moment, might work the way the “white envelopes” worked at the GW Bush funeral. I don’t want to actually start a rumor, I just wanted to enjoy the moment.
The Howler Monkeys at DU were proud of her because they say she omitted a courtesy introduction (Speaker supposedly says, “It’s my honor to introduce...” and she said “Ladies and gentlemen, the president of the United States.” The Monkeys brag that she did so in retaliation for his snubbing her handshake. She’s not that smart; I believe she intended to say what she said, hoping to get in a shot with her base “base”.
I find the simpler introduction Nancy used more appropriate given she’s’ been trying to destroy his presidency since before he took office, who WANTS to watch her pretend to be civil? The Howlers also note that he gave Pence a copy before he gave one to Pelosi (i.e., supposed to be the reverse).
While I would not fault him if he were to snub her given she’s worked to destroy the country, starting with the president, for years now. But in the past, there seemed to be somewhat of a limit on what President Trump COULD express in the eyes of the public.
However, I wonder if he has now “officially” been given information about her treasonous acts and no longer has to limit his public opinion of her to her acts against his presidency, but can now express the disgust of a nation with a traitor. Have the gloves come off?
