The over/under on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' rushing yards in Super Bowl LIV was one of the most popular prop bets offered at sportsbooks around the nation, and it went down to the final possession.

Mahomes' over/under rushing yards opened as low as 27.5 and was bet up to as high 36.5. Mahomes had 44 yards entering Kansas City's final possession. With the Chiefs leading 31-20 and 57 seconds remaining, Mahomes kneeled on three straight plays, losing 15 yards. He finished with 29 yards rushing, a costly outcome for bettors.

"That was close to a six-figure swing [in favor of the house]," said Jeff Davis, director of trading for Caesars Sportsbook.

“PointsBet elected to refund all bets on Mahomes over 30.5 rushing yards, saying on Twitter that “if there’s been a worse beat on a prop than this one, feel free to let us know!””

Good. Serves them right for betting in the first place. Did they want him to fix the game?

All those gaudy Las Vegas palaces were constructed with the losses of bettors.

Why have so many not figured out that the House always wins eventually ?

As if those guys out there engaged in a very real gladiatorial battle give a **** about the bettors think. As a Colts fan, and thus a rival of the Chiefs, I wanted to belittle and hate Mahomes. (Yep, there’s a rivalry there that the Colts have gotten the better of. They hate us worse than we hate them.) But this guy is the real deal. Easily the best QB in the NFL for the last two years. I may boo him but I sure wish he was on my team.

I won five million for my prop bet that there would be no missed field goals, a touchdown where no player entered the end zone, and fifteen or more disgusting sexual acts at half-time.

NFL is going to rue the day they started catering to organized gambling.

Or, even better, would they have been happy if he had gotten hurt in those last plays?

Patrick Mahomes is the anti-Kaepernick.

Since when are football players supposed to change the plays for the benefit of betters? Kneel-downs in that situation are basically universal.

I suppose MLB bowed to organized gambling when they let Pete in the sportscasters’ booth.

Am wondering when the ACC will rue professional college players on scholarsips.
