A mystery virus - previously unknown to science - is causing severe lung disease in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
More than 50 people have been infected. Seven are currently in a critical condition.
A new virus arriving on the scene, leaving patients with pneumonia, is always a worry and health officials around the world are on high alert.
But is this a brief here-today-gone-tomorrow outbreak or the first sign of something far more dangerous?
What is this virus? Viral samples have been taken from patients and analysed in the laboratory.
And officials in China and the World Health Organization have concluded the infection is a coronavirus.
Coronaviruses are a broad family of viruses, but only six (the new one would make it seven) are known to infect people.
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars), which is caused by a coronavirus, killed 774 of the 8,098 people infected in an outbreak that started in China in 2002.
"There is a strong memory of Sars, that's where a lot of fear comes from, but we're a lot more prepared to deal with those types of diseases," says Dr Josie Golding, from the Wellcome Trust.

vaping I’m sure.....
Tainted vaccines,,,
Living in Wuhan is similar to vaping - its a large industrial city with plenty of air pollution of the worst sort.
I am very concerned about this story. I also remember reports of pneumonic plague in China, a few months ago, and wonder if this another version of the same illness.
The number of cases (real or suspected) in Hong Kong is around 40. Other countries (Singapore and South Korea) have reported cases. However, the number of cases in Wuhan remains at 59 and 1 death. No other China city has reported any cases.
Hong Kong officials are supposed to fly to Wuhan this week to get more information and do some testing. They are only going to stay overnight.
One suspects that Chinese officials are withholding information. But it can not be proven right now.
Sorry Greta
Add a couple of zeros to those numbers to be more realistic.
If they wouldn’t live in filth, they (and eventually the rest of the world) wouldn’t have these problems.
I blame Mexico and their s**tty beer.
Is this an airborne virus?
Plague is bacterial, not viral.
There’s a lot more going unreported around the world too.

Beer slide...
Corona is not “Beer” (”Bier”) per the German “Reinheitsgebot”. More of a Beer adjunct, or malt beverage.
(Excerpt)
“Corn”
“Now, back to the “dirty” adjuncts. Plenty of people criticize breweries for including corn in their beer, but far fewer understand why it’s used. Employed properly, corn lightens color and body in beer without contributing much flavor. When drinkability and sessionability is a key concern in your beverage, as it is for “the big guys,” that’s important. Slightly sweet and smooth in flavor, you will find corn’s fingerprints all over the light lager and cream ale styles. Corn is also sometimes used to lighten the body of dense, flavorful English styles like the sessionable bitters and milds. ...Instead, you’re likely to see corn’s influence as a subtle, smooth sweetness in a light-bodied, easy drinking beer. Because corn lowers a beer’s protein content, you may find some detrimental effect on head retention as well. Try a Gennessee Cream Ale or a Corona (oh god, I can’t believe I just told the Internet to try a Corona). Both use corn, and exemplify the drinkability the adjunct can bring to a beer. “
(Sure...Polenta “Beer”...corn produces a “Smooth sweetness”. Not mentioned, but its also cheaper than malt. Corn should only be used in Bourbon.)
This virus will kill everyone in the world just like the last 15 scare-porn viruses did.
