Twenty states allow first cousin marriage. I have married cousin in my ancestry and so do you, I’m sure.
The Bible doesn’t forbid it although the Roman Catholic church does.
It isn’t particularly harmful unless practiced repeatedly.
Publicity hound parents, otoh, are a problem. Society and their baby are best served by ignoring them.
I didn’t say they should be prosecuted. Siblings or parents is one thing.
Queen Victoria and Albert were first cousins; Queen Elizabeth and Philip are also cousins.
Read the bible for crying out loud. Stuff way worse than this was going on and has been going on for thousands of years. There’s no “slippery slope.” Ease up sparky.
But if they’d aborted the baby, sold pieces and put the leftovers down the garbage disposal, no problem.
I’m sure there are many examples throughout history to point to. The Dupont family of Delaware are among them. In the past, the wealthy were more likely to intermarry in order to keep money in the family, the poor did so largely because they were more isolated geographically and didn’t marry “strangers”.
There is a slippery slop, but I don’t think two cousins are it.

Well that doesnt seem true with the queen of England and her family.
They needed some new blood in that family, just not that poor quality offering they imported!
I have a very close friend whose parents are first cousins. They were from wealthy, prominent families in a Latin American country.
Or Somalian like Omar and her illicit marriage to her brother.
After court cases such as Lawrence vs Texas on homosexuality, and the myriad court cases requiring recognition of homosexual marriage, I don’t see how these Utah laws criminalizing cousin marriage are constitutional.
Thirty three posts and still no Elvis picture.
pervs on parade
next stop incest.....freaks
You mean Jerry Lee Lewis.
Jerry Lee Lewis practiced the topic, but Elvis had the appropriate song on the topic.
I believe that The Alan Parsons Project put the appropriate Edgar Allen Poe poem to music.
Every single one of us has ancestors who were first cousins.
And we are okay.
Seriously? They are not brother and sister for crying out loud. Not the best idea, but they are not “freaks.”
