JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (KSNT) In a show of support Tuesday morning, law enforcement visited the Junction City McDonalds in the wake of a coffee cup insult hoax.
The Geary County Sheriffs Department and Junction City police both paid visits to the McDonalds to have coffee and speak with staff and customers.
The meet comes after Heringtons police chief accused a McDonalds employee of writing obscenities on one of his officers coffee cups. In a press conference Monday night, the chief said the officer made up the story and is no longer on the force.

Good on them.
glad the guy got caught on a stupid lie like this rather then a lie in a investigation. there is an expectation of truth that comes with the uniform and when a cop lies it hurts everyone in law enforcement.
There needs to be a way to blackball the loser cop so he doesn’t get hired as law enforcement by another municipality.
Of the “Look at me!” generation.
Lets call it “Generation Narcissist”.
The question is why did the Cop do this?
So, what happens to you or I if we claim that a cop wrote that on a ticket issued to us?
Why the hell would a cop do that, as if cops aren’t bashed enough today, freakin idiot.
My guesses: his “authoritah” got disrespected or he had some kind of grievance with somebody and he wanted revenge; or he was just young and dumb and did it as a joke and the Chief ran with it without checking and it got out of hand.
Have any of these writing on coffee cup or adding nasty comment to a restaurant receipt stories ever panned out? It seems like a truly stupid and unlikely thing for a coffee shop or restaurant employee to do.
I can’t imagine why anyone would. Why anger a cop and risk losing your job? Why ruin an honest worker’s day at the risk of your career? But it happens and I can’t think of any good reason for anyone to do that to another.
He posted this to Facebook first, IIRC. He probably thought he would get some attention. Boy, did he ever.
This is great. Great leadership. And great leadership makes for great officers. The turn the other cheek and giving them the benefit of the doubt is very admirable. They are certainly bigger than me and are to be admired for it.
If this was reversed would the McDonalds crew visit the police station and apologize. We know the answer.
I’m thinking there would be a good chance that a Mickey D crew would apologize. Now, as for Starbucks.........
I am astounded that a police officer would do such a thing. Shame on him.
The right kind of follow-up.
“If this was reversed would the McDonalds crew visit the police station and apologize.”
I’ll bet the franchise owner would.
“There needs to be a way to blackball the loser cop”
Blackballing isn’t enough. What he did stirs the racist pot when things already are bad. He should be charged with something. When blacks have created false flags and hoaxes as he did (like spray painting racist things on their own cars, Smollett, etc.), I think they they were charged with something. He’s a cop; the bar should be higher.
