My guess they are waiting to reconvene after the first of the year.

“If the Senate is not in session, Trump can make recess appointments...”

Mitch has made damn sure Trump gets no recess appointments. You can bet technically they are not in recess.

After watching Mitch for years we know he likes to give the Republicans every possible opportunity to side with the enemy...

The same question can be asked of a lot of things that do not seem to be happening quickly as many would expect. Personally, I believe there is a method to stretching out what the commies know is coming down the tracks. What is true is that the longer things drag out the crazier the commies get. However, it is about time the cake comes out of the oven before it gets burnt.

Not his job. Nancy is stuck with the hot potato, no need to step in and save her.

Exactly. It leaves Nancy twisting in the wind with impeachment aging like a potato said in the sun. She can’t whine about the process being shortchanged or subverted as at the moment she is the cause for the delay. This is analogous to not firing Mueller. He was left twisting in the wind with nothing and the Dems couldn’t scream about firing him, which would have then provided the bastards fodder for impeachment.

Right now, the Dems are stuck holding a mess of their own making. Leave it be.

He's slow on the trigger at times, but he occasionally comes through- eg. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.

Republicans have always, well since after WWII, felt that Democrats are the natural rulers of the Republic and have always been uncomfortable when they have majorities in Congress and have the Presidency.Newer electees don’t seem to suffer from that malady but the old guard who do are still in control of the committees and the positions of power.I think they don’t feel they can just flat refuse Democrat demands. While they hesitate to and may not structure the Senate “trial” for the benefit of Democrat showmanship and to require a Conviction, they do sit back and let the SocDems drag it all through the swamp and may yet give in and let the Democrats decree a conviction.

I just sent a note to Trump suggesting he listen to his friend, Mark Levin. Maybe you guys could do the same.

Here’s the link:

It has to do with the senate rules. Pelosi is trying to play it fast and loose by malicious compliance to the Senate rules. The “fix” for this situation is to change the Senate rules. That can’t happen until the Senate comes back to session.

I’ve been echoing Levin for days to end this mess, but some FReepers “want justice against the bad guys” (with a five year long trial).

Anything to do with democrats is a fuster cluck, and some here want a trial?! It’ll be another circus... because that’s what happens when there are democrats in the room. AOC and antifa will be banging on the doors.

What would you propose? Just forgetting abut it and letting them off the hook?

Save her? I’d tell Pelosi to stick the gavel up her ass with a note saying the issue will not be heard from the Senate, and the charges are dismissed.

No. No one is suggesting that either.

I’m not so sure about flushing this impeachment trial
anymore unless testimony from any of the Demo witnesses
can be devastating. Maximum public exposure is what we
want if the Trump exposure potential is low and Biden
can be dragged into the swamp he helped create.
Imagine the questions the GOP attorneys could ask of
Biden regarding Obama. You may suggest that same info
could be gleaned from future Durham and Bill Barr
generated trials but we don’t even know if those will
happen or how successful the MSM will be at tamping
down the swamp clearing trials we all pray for.
