The first lady is not kidding around.
Stanford constitutional law professor Pamela S. Karlan went viral during the impeachment hearings on Wednesday for tearing into Republican Rep. Doug Collins, and telling him that she was “insulted” by his suggestion that she hadn’t read the witness transcripts. What’s more, she stated that everything she has read “tells me that when President Trump invited, indeed demanded, foreign involvement in our upcoming election.”
Then she made this play on words:
"The Constitution states that there can be no titles of nobility. So while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t MAKE him a baron.”
And the Trump campaign is seizing on this particular line, where Karlan used the name of the president’s youngest son to make a point about the limitations of the president’s executive powers.
Her comment got a few laughs at the hearing, but Barron’s mother didn’t find it so funny.
First lady Melania Trump, whose “Be Best” initiative advocates against bullying, tweeted that Karlan “should be ashamed.”
Other supporters of the president didn’t find it so funny, either. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., told Karlan that her “little joke about Barron … makes you look mean” during the hearing.
Karlan apologized for her remark late Wednesday. “It was wrong of me to do that,’’ she said, according to the Associated Press. “I do regret it.”
Trump 2020 national press secretary Kayleigh McEnany released the following statement in response on Wednesday afternoon:
“Only in the minds of crazed liberals is it funny to drag a 13-year-old child into the impeachment nonsense,” she wrote. “Pamela Karlan thought she was being clever and going for laughs, but she instead reinforced for all Americans that Democrats have no boundaries when it comes to their hatred of everything related to President Trump.”

Melania usually stays away from politics and does not Tweet much, but this was the last straw. She tweeted today:
“A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it,” — MELANIA TRUMP
Karlan is an angry middle-aged leftist academic and lesbian
As a group they are entirely predictable.

She got in her punch line and all the hateful Trump-hating trolls in her life will congratulate her for her tasteless remark.
If some Republican-called Congressional Witless had made a snarky remark about a daughter of President Obama in a public hearing, they would fear for their life.

You would think it’s just common curtesy that Politicians kids who are minors are off limits. You want to hate on the politician, fine. Leave the children-teens alone.
0bama’s kids were strictly off limits but with Trump it seems it’s fair game. These people are self destructing.

Her child was attacked. It’s in a mom’s DNA to defend.
Well, the fact remains that Professor Karlan will likely never bear a child of her own body to name, even if she wanted to name him Baron, Elvis or Lenin.
