A convicted child kidnapper was sentenced Thursday to life in federal prison, announced U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Erin Nealy Cox.

Following a two-day trial in September, a federal jury in Fort Worth deliberated for less than 10 minutes before convicting Michael Webb, 51, of kidnapping an 8-year-old girl.

“We believe that justice has been served in this case. And we are thankful for and agree with the Judge’s decision to sentence him to life in prison. My hope is that this family and this community will find solace in knowing that he will never be able to harm another little child again,” said U.S. Attorney Nealy Cox.

“A dangerous predator is spending the rest of his life behind bars because law enforcement and citizen volunteers worked tirelessly to safely bring the victim home. The FBI’s North Texas Child Exploitation Task Force is committed to assisting our law enforcement partners in the protection of the most vulnerable in our community,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Matthew J. DeSarno of the Dallas Field Office. “Today’s sentence sends an important message to all predators. We will not allow any crime against children to go unpunished.”

From another article:

Webb was discovered several hours at a Woodspring Suites hotel by two citizens who’d seen the police department’s social media posts. “Two local church members saw what we put out on social media and just went looking around,” Fort Worth Police Department Spokesperson Buddy Calzada explained at an early morning news conference.

These two guys were looking around for his car and found it at a hotel. We were all amazed at the sheer timing of it all.

If Texas elects a Democrat as governor he might be released on the grounds that he was just following his sexual predilections.

New details show officer almost botched 2nd chance to rescue kidnapped Fort Worth girl

JUNE 20, 2019

A Forest Hill police sergeant discounted the report of two Good Samaritans who had called 911 and reported they’d found the car believed to have been used in the kidnapping of an 8-year-old girl in Fort Worth, according to the police chief.

“The two callers were obviously concerned,” Forest Hill Police Chief Dan Dennis said Thursday. “They had located what was correctly the suspect’s vehicle. He basically discounted that. He looked at the suspect vehicle as unrelated and essentially tried to talk them out of it being the right vehicle.”

Richardson Wolfe is also the same sergeant who had searched Webb’s room about two hours before the girl’s rescue but failed to find her, even though she was in the room.

First officers on the scene took notes but didn’t investigate the rooms. Later officers on the scene was more vigorous in their investigation and apprehended the kidnapper and rescured the girl.

And the a-hole’s appeal will have “the jury didn't deliberate long enough” as first item. They should have played a few hands of pinochle or something just to make it look more “deliberative”.

Anything at all can be brought up as an item of appeal and usually is. That’s how they get multiple appeals. They just come up with a new item when the other appeal is turned away, it’s just got to be good enough to convince a judge to grant an appeal. Most are always completely frivolous and are turned away, I believe.

I’m not an attorney either.

It's frightening the police didn't find her the first time. He hid her under clothes in a basket and told he'd hurt her and her family if he made any noise. She remained silent.

I have to wonder how complete their search was when she was right there on the floor in front of them and they didn't bother to overturn, open, and check EVERYTHING.

Thank heavens they went back a second time.

The jury probably spent most of the 10 minutes picking a foreman and then reading the jury charge.

Sell hunting licenses and make some money off the deal.

IMHO the victim's family should have the first crack at him. If it was my daughter I would just ask for 15 minutes alone with him, a hammer, plyers, and my hunting knife.

Yep, but my preference is baseball bat, blowtorch and boxcutter...the 3 Bs.
