Bkmk gun notes
Nothing will ever equal the sense you receive when pulling the trigger on the eighth round. That is the reason for living a clean life.
In Navy Officer Candidate School I was issued one to drill with. Our company officer was an Annapolis graduate and was a large man with a great build. I was complaining to my younger son about his chiding us that there was no reason to move your head in going from right shoulder to port arms. My son is a former Marine and said there was no reason I couldn’t do it as well. He then proceeded to teach me the correct way to execute the maneuver forty-five years too late.
The only thing they missed, which would have been very politically incorrect, was renaming the bumpy part the pickanniny rail, used for mowing down innocent blacks while they burned down your city.
What? No chainsaw bayonet? Worthless without it.
It needs a laser so the bullets can be guided to targets around corners.
Hope you got good ones. The rifle I was issued in Basic sort of soured me on the M1 Garand. It had been shot-our (absolutely no rifling left in the barrel), and every time I fired it, the sight would drop a click or two. I don’t think it was the only piece of junk in the company. Pulling targets, I notice there were lots of keyholing.
Got one of those. An early one that had the flip-up sight. Gave it to my brother, who died and left it to me, only his son grabbed it and sold it for big bucks - and put the proceeds up his nose.
Oh, that sucks. I am so sorry. That one is hard to forgive.
