There are utility poles behind my stepdad’s place — and a 100’ swath cut around them and the power company has a tree cutting service come around on a regular schedule to keep everything cut back.
We have power — and the people here are not tolerant of leftist idiots.
(Longview, TX)
The reason was that PG&E decided to get back at California for suing them for the one wild fire last year and to be on the safe side since they can’t remove debris close to their lines they just shut down power to the danger areas!
Sounds plausible.
Plus,Newsome’s been floating the idea of the state seizing control of PG&E.
What better way of ginning up public support for socialist control of the grid —than by refusing to cut the deadwood, leading to wildfires, which forces PG&E to cut off power to protect homes & limit PG&E shareholders’ liability.
Then Newsom feigns outrage & zooms in to save the day.
After all, those eeevil stockholders are eeevil capitalists. Biggov’s control would be SO much better.
Look for similar outages/ interruptions under various pretexts WRT cell/ internet services and water delivery.
Time for serious prepping, folks. SHTF may be closer than we think.
Everyone hates everyone. The left does something about it.
We are living “Atlas Shrugged”. They are without power in CA and in NY they cheer the exit of a Billionaire tax payer.
If Ayan Rand and George Orwell could only see where we are today.....
The author needs to go back on his meds.
The long-haul transmission lines were not de-energized.
It was big and little feeder lines off the mains. And only in the highest risk places.
NOT to say there are not massive problems with keeping the infrastructure clear, but PG&E is a highly regulated utility, from revenue, to capital and operating expenditures.
CPUC determines what the spending budget is every year. To include capital improvements and maintenance expense.
They also compel PG&E to purchase all “green” energy produced in the state at a premium retail rate. They lose money with these massive purchases, while the “green” power rides the grid for free, further depleting the revenue base for improvements and maintenance.
It’s also a way to inspire research and development of home-based power plants, micro-grids, and such. When are we going to learn that dependence on grids like this is a significant vulnerability? Have to learn the hard way, I guess.
Your perspective is right on and compelling.
What would they do if they saw?
We see, what will we do?
Thats what Ive been wondering. One well placed court verdict and the electric system collapses, persuading many to either leave or install full home solar electric.
It will get worst next year. All new residential housing will be energy neutral that is produce as much energy as it consumes. Great. Housing shortage and now electrical power shortage.
When it’s time to publish a story and the facts you research completely derail your theory...publish with no facts.
” . . . this one has no facts. Just supposition.”
Fact: Wind turbines have to shut down when wind speeds top 55 mph.
Fact: In 2018 California relied on wind and solar for 17.8% of its power generation (about 11% solar, 7% wind).
What is supposition is that concerns about power availability were involved in the shutdown decision. But if no one ever even *considers* that as a possibility, no one will ever look into that factor, especially with an establishment press which is little more than the lapdog of the left.
You don’t have a backup generator yet?
All new Semi Truck rigs by regulation burn very high temperature exhaust. Semi Trucks are fire starters by Democrat Government mandate.
So I take it you’d object to a reporter asking a PG&E spokesman if concerns about sufficient power availability played any role at all in the shutdown decisions?
And when does a hypothesis morph into a “conspiracy” theory?
Somebody needed a miracle to get through the last security barrier at Nakatomi Plaza.
Idiot reporters make asses of themselves every day so one more idiotic question wouldn’t be noticed.
Worse than being stupid this author is an ignorant fool
This idiot writer claims branches cant drop and catch fire because utility companies cut trees beneath their power lines so that couldnt possibly be what caused the fires. What a moron. THAT is exactly what has caused these fires because PGE DID NOT cut the area beneath the lines.
This is the problem with dirtbag clickbait sites like Epoch News. Its all trash. Total idiotic opinion without any facts masquerading as some type of news.
Only FR folks keep reprinting this garbage, so of course they end being in the conspiracy bubble and cant escape.
