he Church of Scientology has firmly made Clearwater, Florida its home in the blink of an eye - shelling out $103million to sweep up 101 acres of the city's waterfront downtown area over the course of three years.

The controversial church first landed in Clearwater in 1975 with one hotel property to its name, but the organization had elaborate plans to spread its reach across the entire downtown area.

In just three years, starting with a frantic land grab in January 2017, Scientology doubled its footprint in the city.

Following a fallout with the City Council, Scientologists started to buy downtown property - $103million worth to be exact - at an unprecedented rate and now the church and its members own 185 properties that cover 101 acres of downtown.

I’ve never understood how they scammed their way into being called a church. They are a financially predatory cult at best.

I know, and I’ve never understood where they get all their money. I guess there are some very well-heeled members of this “church.”

The documentary type programs from Leah Remini are simply frightening. I feel so sorry for family members of those bewitched by Scientology.

I’ve watched a number of videos on them and how they got tax exempt status.

Basically the IRS accused them of not paying their taxes to the tune of millions and millions of dollars.

they basically broke the will of the IRS by filing hundreds of lawsuits all over the country which required the IRS to defend each one, costing the IRS millions.

After years and years of fighting a new President and IRS commissioner took office and the new IRS commissioner just wanted to end it all and gave in to what they wanted.

Don't be fooled. Scientology, for all its glitz, glamour, and billions of dollars, is the fastest shrinking cult on the planet.

By the most generous estimates, there are only about 35,000 Scientologists on earth.

Watch Leah Remini EXPOSE Scientology through actual and former members. Herself and her mom were members for years!

Scientology is a RUTHLESS cult that defends themselves through intimidation and character assassination. They literally BRAINWASH their members while extorting all their money.

Buying buildings is one way that they launder their money.

Truly an EVIL faux religion.

Sorry but California breeds the most strangest white people the planet has ever seen. Then they metastasize and mutate
into even more bizarre creations. IMHO white people evolved in a relative dark area with prolonged freezes. There neurological systems work best in such areas. Given the perennially warm , bright climate of Southern California and the regular use of drugs, you get Scientologists and other weird creatures such as California Democrats.

When you see people in shirts and ties and long pants in Clearwater on the weekends, you just saw Cult Members. We were there for the Superboat Races and Mrs Deplorable had on her bikini and shorts. They are almost as bad as Muslims when they looked at us in tshirts and shorts. Clearwater citizens are getting upset at them. Clearwater wanted to put the Marine Aquarium in downtown, but they bought the land.

Of course, you might see Tom Cruise and other stars in Clearwater. Tom just bought a 3 million dollar penthouse in a building the Cult is building.
