Cursive is hard to read anyway, especially when people write sloppily.

Sometimes it is the only way, though. When I got word that a girl I knew well in college had gotten a bad case of stomach cancer in her 40s and would be dying within a few weeks, neither an email nor a typed, word-processed laser print would do the job.

I forced myself with my bad computer guy penmanship to write a letter, three pages of cursive. She called before the end, and getting a hand-written letter made a difference. More recently my 80 year old godmother passed, and I used cursive to write a short note to my godfather on the sympathy card. It works better than manuscript.

For personal use I do print by had, outside of checks and signatures on legal documents.

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

Of course, since all books are published in cursive, it is an absolute must. Besides if people didn't use cursive the Post Office Department wouldn't have a convenient excuse for undeliverable mail.</s>

But MY question is: Was learning algebra really necessary?”

No and neither was cursive. At least not today. Pens and pencils have been replaced with keyboards and touch type keyboards skills were largely replaced by thumb typing and keyboards will be replaced by to speech to text.

I went to grade school when duplicates were still made with indelible pencil and a pan of gel. We didn't regularly use quill pens still but the desks all had inkwell hole in the desk top.

No matter how many times you look at the corners and decide, “this is right”, it’s not when you try to make it fit!!

I use spandex sheets (she on amazon) and it doesn't seem to recall matter since they really stretch to fit.

That’s the one thing these lists get wrong.

Traffic flows a lot better if the merging occurs at the end of the merge lane in a “zipper” pattern.

The “ME FIRST” attitude demonstrated by this item is the entire cause of the problem. Ask ANY driving instructor or road safety professional.
