So the question is, would we be doing this if Saudi had not agreed to pay? Is this truly in America’s interest or are we now selling our armed services to the highest bidder?”
That’s not the same as what I suggested, our troops signed up to defend America not the Saudis, I am saying we should create a force specifically for each of the conflicts the chickenhawks want us to fight and see how many sign up or donate.
I wouldn’t send any troops to Saudi Arabia but any other POTUS would have sent them for free so Trump’s action to try and thread the needle with the warhawks but avoid war and not waste as much money is an improvement.
When I picture Chris Wallace in a helmet and with a rifle, I also get flashes of John Kerry in a “bunny suit” grinning like an idiot while on his hands and knees....

Yes, and we can sit back and watch him get ambushed because it would make a good story (ala his insufferable, father, Mike Wallace).
