“Boys are different animals.”

Years ago I had a neighbor clean out his garage and discover a cardboard box full of dried, dead squirrels. His 8 year old son had picked them off the road and saved them because he thought they looked neat.

When I saw the weekly menu, I thought, *That has to be Diana*.

So I checked, and I was right.

Do those backpacks come with a dead squirrel in them, or is that an add on option?

Brave little warrior squirrel!

Put him on a longboat and send him to Nutella.

Beef is easier to hunt than bear.

Kid’s gonna need a lot more squirrels!

My kid had a squirrel in his backpack for most of last year. Long story about how he accidentally caught a squirrel instead of a mouse, but when it happened he preserved the pelt, sewed an inner liner and made a pencil case out of it. It was a good biology and life skills lesson. He became a little notorious at school, though. Teachers were like, “oh— you’re That Kid.”

Well who hasn’t had a dead squirrel on their person at on time or another?

LOL!

I work with what God and my amazing ‘Jeremiah Johnson’ gives me to work with. :)

I make a mean Belk Loaf, too! That’s Meat Loaf, but with ground Bear & Elk. Makes AWESOME sandwiches the next few days, too. And fried up with eggs for breakfast? Heaven! :)

I should’ve married my boyfriend ‘Doctor Steve’ back when he first asked me; I’d have people cooking for ME these days...and it probably would NOT be wild game. ;)

Yes, he looked like Mark Harmon (St. Elsewhere!) but, he would’ve eventually left me for Nancy Nurse. ;)

Very true!

In the 80’s I lived about TWO minutes from Tijuana, MX. I’m pretty sure I’ve eaten things that weren’t even living THINGS at any point in their lives, LOL!

But, you wash it down with Tequila or Tecate and no harm, no foul...and no problemo mas tarde, entender? ;)

Very much so!

We raise a steer of our own every few years. Breaks up the monotony of meat harvested in the field. ;)

We’re having Thanksgiving at our house this year. My Local Butcher has been tasked with fashioning a Pork Crown Roast for me. :)

Last year was Prime Rib - I want to try a Crown Roast this year.

We have ALL had our fill of Turkey through the years. Sorry, Purists & Pilgrims! ;)

Why did the squirrel die? It could have had rabies. You certainly don’t want people dissecting it or eating it.
