No, wrong, if an individual is impeached and convicted, that person can never hold federal office again.

Really? Rep. Alcee Hastings was impeached and found guilty on 8 of the 17 articles of impeachment on October 20, 1089. The president pro tempore ordered him removed from office. He was not disqualified for future office.

Rep. Hastings currently is the representative from Florida's 20th Congressional District in the U.S. House and most recently won re-election in 2018.

Trump gets 2 more terms indefinately if he is repeatably impeached.

We should all support Trump’s impeachment.

Trump term 4, 8, 16, 32 years in office.

Trump serve 4 years.
Trump impeached.
Trump serves 4 more years. 8 total years.
Trump impeached.
Trump serves 4 more years. 12 total years.
Trump impeached.
Trump serves 4 more years. 16 total years.
Trump impeached.
Trump serves 4 more years. 20 total years.

The Great Wall of Trump is finally built.

“...Biden should be impeached and convicted...Hillary should be impeached and convicted...”

Agree, but they can’t be now, right? I mean impeachment is used to remove people from office, once they are out (for whatever reason) that’s no longer something that can happen, is it?

Impeachment is just a leveling of charges - the Senate would have to “convict” in order to have impact...

After the conviction vote in the Senate, there is another, simple majority vote to prevent the accused from holding public office in the future. It would not surprise me if that is the true goal here.

Impeachment is merely accusing or charging. If the House impeaches, that means Trump45 is ‘accused’ and the matter goes to the Senate for a vote to convict.

McConnell is required to bring the House’s accusations to a vote but the Republicans control all matters of evidence and who can be called to testify. The trial will be brief and will end in acquittal.

Acquittal in the Senate means nothing happens. The Trumpsters will view impeachment as a badge of honor, proof that Trump is draining the swamp.

Because the ack-ack is always the most intense when you’re directly over the target. That’s your signal that it’s time to drop your bomb load.

What these idiots don’t seem to realize is that impeaching Trump not only automatically makes Pence POTUS, and Pence can pick whomever he chooses to fill the vacancy at Veep. On top of that, because the term is more than half over Pence would still be eligible to run for re-election TWICE, potentially giving him 9+ years in office. And Pence is far more conservative AND a far more savvy politician than Trump is.

So if the Dims think removing Trump from office will be all sunshine and unicorns, they haven’t thought this through very well.

Yes, if he’s not convicted. However, the Dems and media will claim that he can’t run nor execute his duties while under impeachment (think court nominees). There will be a parade of constitutional experts to back them up...led by Lawrence Tribe. They will try to paint him as ineligible.

The clause outlines the maximum punishment. IOW, the senate can’t impose prison time or have you hanged or shot...although I would expect some Dem senators to try to do that.
