Having lived in that general at one time, I heard that the REAL secret of Area 51 was that the ground is so contaminated by exotic chemicals that there'd be a public uproar if that ever got out (water table pollution, etc.). Thought is was tin-foil hat crap. About that time the Las Vegas Review Journal had articles on workers out there coming down sick with unknown diseases. The docs asked the Govt what they were they exposed to. The Govt stonewalled and there was a big flap that ran for years. It didn't die out until all the sick guys did.

Maybe the deep state is responsible for helping to create and popularize all the Area 51 “reverse engineering of alien technology” conspiracy theories (even secretly backing the leading advocates for those theories), as a diversion to cover up (impede serious investigation of) real human technology experiments that have not always worked out well for the workers performing them.
I use to do business with a computer technology company whose name was NBI. Employees of the company told me the owners created that name, and it meant “nothing but initials”.

I actually that was sort of “cool”, but later learned the actual name was just as strange: it was “Necton Bylinnium Inc.”

One of the companies I used to work for had a few projects out there. I was lucky enough to spend a few months working on them and got to see “Weird Looking Things”, which is what we were told to say, in response to questions about what’s out there.
I saw “Have Blue” and “Tacit Blue” (the whale) in 1982.

As usual the EPA was used to viciously attack businesses around the country.
Meanwhile .gov dumped nasty toxic stuff into the soil and declared it top secret.

Questions:
Who knew about it?
Did any Presidents know?
Did any Secretaries of Defense know?
Did any intelligence chiefs know?
Human beings made those decisions, and they (and if necessary their estates) should be held accountable.
