LA County resident's death is the fifth in the US linked to vaping The unidentified person was over 55 and had chronic health conditions Public health officials warned people to 'stop vaping now' due to the 'unknowns' No brands or fluid chemicals were identified but all were being investigated New York health officials found extremely high levels of the chemical vitamin E acetate in nearly all of the cannabis-containing vaping products But that chemical was was not seen in the nicotine-based products Symptoms with links included chest pain, shortness of breath and vomiting Stats showed 450 cases of lung illness across 33 states for people using vapes

A Los Angeles County resident has died from a lung illness possibly tied to vaping, bringing the total number of such US deaths to five, health officials said on Friday.

The person, who has not been identified, of California, was over 55-years-old and had chronic underlying health conditions, officials told the Los Angeles Times.

Officials are warning against e-cigarette use as the exact cause of any link between vaping and the lung condition remains unknown.

Federal health officials are looking into symptoms related to the e-cigarettes that have included chest pain, shortness of breath and vomiting.

The deceased was one of 12 cases of people in Los Angeles County experiencing severe and sudden lung disease after a history of vaping, said Muntu Davis, the heath officer of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

'Our recommendation ... is that if you don't have to vape, don't do it right now. There really is a lot of unknowns. There is a lot of information that needs to be gathered,' Davis said..

We need to have a "serious national discussion" about "sensible" vape control". How about a national vape pen registry? Or a limit on vape oil purchases? Or a "voluntary" vape pen buyback program? Red flag laws targeted at vape users NOW! Hey, will WalMart phase out vape products and ban open vaping in their stores?

Fake cigarettes were a bad idea from day one. Now it is an industry. So, five admitted deaths, how many unreported? And hundreds of people with lung and other injuries. Sure, not a big amount in a country of around 300 million legal Americans citizens, but still... Is there any value in fake cigarettes? No. Should they be legal? No. Unless and until manufacturers can (1) Ensure that no one under 18 has access to them, (2) Advertising is not directed or seen by anyone under 18, and (3) That the industry assume 100% of all costs associated with injury and death, then these should remain banned. That’s my two-cents on the matter.

I’ve been wondering what all of this vape nonsense has been about.
It’s nicotine without the smell, TAR and the other hundred chems found in a regular cig.

Are vapes taxed like cigs?
Maybe that is the reason...

We should also institute an immediate ban on made up words like “vape”

Safer as in no tar. But if you do it continually anything can kill you.

I quit smoking in 1976. So I don’t give a crap.

Well, we do need a serious discussion about nicotine vaping with kids. The reality is we are allowing kids to become addicts. That’s not a conservative value.

Tell me about it!

I’ve been breathing and eating for years and sooner or later I will die while doing one of these two things.

Vaping is too decentralized and unruly for the nanny state.

Tobacco, gambling, marijuana, drugs and soon prostitution - those are all rackets that belong to the state, and they demand their large cut. They like cooperation with a few pliant crony-capitalists who are under their thumb.

Well, we do need a serious discussion

Even though I get your point, can you please not use the cheap and phony slogans of the Left? The Left forever wants to have a "national discussion" about race, guns, white priviledge, etc... which is fascist new-speak for - prepare to be lectured about how evil XYZ is, and how we want power over it.

The problem with vaping is the fluid containing diacetyl, a flavoring carrier which also has a strong butter taste. This substance causes “popcorn lung” (since it is used in microwave popcorn), which is the inflammation of the aveoli in the lungs. This is where the gas exchange takes place. The inflammation is so far irreversible.

I’ve been wondering what all of this vape nonsense has been about.

DEMOCRATS want VAPERS to turn to LEGAL MARIJUANA and really get hooked.
