Israel has a lot of experience with immigrants. Those Hasidic Jews, only a small number of which avoid vaxing, brought it from Israel, where it was brought by illegal immigrants from Africa an Asia. The story could hardly be weirder.
They may well be the original source of several of the outbreaks, although a recent measles alert for Disneyland exposure came via a New Zealander. But the subsequent generations of cases aren't generally occurring among illegals Trump is holding near the border (as Mumps is) nor in communities of undeported illegals further in country. What is keeping them going is collections of vulnerable anti-vax Americans in which one imported case can multiply into multiple generations of many cases. With recommended levels of vaccination the third world invasion would produce multiple small, self limited, outbreaks instead of the lengthy large outbreaks driving the caseload. Just as the low level of public education regarding the founding principles of America has let once uncommon imported crazy ideas spread epidemically through our young people when once such would have been laughed away. Anti-vaxxers don't get to wave off their co-responsibility by pointing out the other part of the problem.
We need to thank all of the stupid brain dead morons in our country who have refused to have their children immunized.
Look around you and you will find them and they will all have an excuse.
Before that we had the whooping cough outbreak. Another 3rd world disease brought in by the illegals. They never mentioned the how it re-surfaced in our population as well...
I would also put part of the blame on the pro vax establishment. They seem unwilling to explain risk. Question any part of the current vaccine schedule and they act like you are denying that any vaccines are beneficial.
Many of the people lumped into the anti-vaxx camp could be persuaded to vaccinate their children if the doctors would be willing to do some time consuming education that did not belittle those they are trying to persuade and they were willing to accept that many of these parents are going to pick and choose the vaccines and have their children dosed later than on the schedule..

They need to consider that in 2016, in New York where this article was covering, there were approximately 725,000 immigrants in the state. By the end of 2018, there were 3,133,808. that’s an increase of a whole lot of people from, countries that hasn’t even started to cure this illness. About 2,400,000 more, or better than 23% increased in two years. They’re lucky a whole lot of different diseases didn’t slip into the city from lice to malaria to aids.

Quarantine your entire family against all other human contact and you won’t infringe others. But even limited contact invalidates that exception. The founding fathers understood this limitation to personal freedom and autonomy. As luminous a pro liberty advocate as Patrick Henry, while Governor of Virginia during the Revolutionary War, changed his state’s law to permit mandatory smallpox variolation of its soldiers. That prevaccination technology had a 2% mortality rate but still saved net lives and helped win the war.
