If the fed lowers rates and raises tariffs, China will pay for the tariffs with a weaker Yuan. Companies will spend more money at home or in other countries. And the US debt will shrink.
Right now, China is hurting the world, not just America. China has pulled in production from many smaller countries who could be growing now. But they aren’t because they have a hard time competing with China. America needs to tariff China out of the prime spot because China uses the money to build their Army, steal our products, and hack our companies, elections, and government. Simply put, China is a very bad actor and we are paying for it. Its time to stop.
And Mr. Trump, think about this. Go to the G7 and say, Global warming starts with China. China is the pollution disaster of the century.
I just read it. You are absolutely right. He “ordered” shippers to search content of shipments for illegal drugs.
“The tweet is right there and that is not what he said.”
Notice that they didn’t have it in the article!
You may be right, but the word “order” seems to ensure that President Trump’s warning to US companies to “come home” will NOT be ignored by the fake-news media.
The risk of putting rates too low is that you could drive up inflation or the economy overheats and creates some imbalance somewhere that has to be dealt with.
The real effects of keeping rates too high is that the country can’t borrow as cheap and so our debt service payments remain high. That directly affects the Federal Current Deficit, impacting future debt levels.
I’m with Trump. Lower those interest rates, keep the economy humming, make it easy to reinvest here in the US. Give Trump room to negotiate trade wars.
Calling the Chairman of the Fed an enemy maybe isnt nice, but would you rather Trump say deep state collaborator? Its sure looking that way.
‘Our great American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China, including bringing....your companies HOME and making your products in the USA.’
The Presidential Order is clear and it is decisive.
America is proud and our corporations now have the leadership they require.
To not follow the President’s order will have devastating consequences upon those corporations.
The word order was for the benefit of the Chinese game players. It actually was a warning of what is coming.
If the media reported things accurately there’d be no problem.
Tell me if I’m wrong when I say, that China has tariffs ALREADY on all our goods going in there.
Trump is asking for no tariffs, either side.
So, China is ADDING tariffs to the already existing tariffs?
He also ordered companies to start looking for an alternative to China including coming back to the US.
Greatest President Ever!
the word order is less than ideal.
It is perfect for his purpose poses.
I think Trump thought that the Jackson Hole conference was an FOMC meeting. (Trump: “As usual, the Fed did NOTHING!”) That’s what set off his unhinged rant that cost another 2% on equities.
He cant order via a tweet. This is just an effort at friendly persuasion. But he can order a suspension of trade or a partial Sutor soon ( certain commodities, goods, etc) by regular presidential order - anytime he finds its necessary. So, by issuing this little tweet hes being very kind to big American corporate interests - giving them advance word that they need to get onboard with policy since important trade negotiations are in progress and stop undermining USA
The FOMC did not have a meeting today. Trump just got confused.
Because government control of the economy is what conservatives have always stood for.
Trump is having to fight too many domestic enemies who are hell-bent on making sure he doesn’t get re-elected.
And to find alternatives to China: "Our great American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China, including bringing companies HOME and making your products in the USA."
