In a landmark ruling, a court in Mexico City has said two people should be allowed to use cocaine legally.

The ruling means the unnamed pair can use, but not sell, small amounts of cocaine, according to Mexico United Against Crime (MUCD), an NGO that filed legal papers in the case as part of its strategy to change the country’s drug policy.

This is the first time cocaine use has been made legal in Mexico, but the ruling still needs to be ratified by a higher court.

It comes at a time when Mexico is grappling with its drug policy under President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, whose official development plan for 2019-2024 pledges to reform a “prohibitionist approach” that it calls “unsustainable” due to the “violence and poor public health outcomes” it has generated.

The court ruling orders Mexico’s national health regulator, Cofepris, to authorize two people to legally possess, transport and use cocaine.

However, a Cofepris official told the AFP news agency that such an authorization is outside its remit, and it has blocked the court order as a result. …

“Which two people, and why?”

I’m can’t find the names of who these to are that got clearance to use, but the original use of cocaine was by the Incas when they chewed the cocoa leaves to get it as it assisted them in breathing the thin air at the elevation they lived at.

It was linked and used/prescribed to patients by Sigmund Freud for depression and sexual impotence. He raved about the drug because at that time he had found there didn’t seem to be a lethal amount that could be consumed like today. Almost everything had use in it’s creation.

But this is a political move according to Mexico United Against Crime (MUCD), a non-governmental organization that seeks to end the country’s war on drugs. This is their way of starting to compromise and to stop the violence between them and the cartels. In other words, a cop out. But this is where we will be stuck having to fight their problem in our country as they will make no effort to stop the flow into the US. A lot of innocent people are going to get hurt or killed by this. And our problem won’t be there problem even though they caused the increase capacity. If they end up with their higher court agreeing with the decision, it’ll be time to start sanctions on Mexico who can’t afford them with their economy.

On paper it indicates Mexico has a good economy. But there are some problems with it. Their oil industry has plummeted, By 2016, production had dropped by half and the country no longer even made the top 10 list of producers.

A minimum of 40% of the country lives in poverty and their GDP is less than Canada while their population is four times as large.

Their two largest industries are cars and the drug cartels. If Trump cuts off their car exports to us. all they will have to eat off is the drug money.

I hope they reconsider their duck and cover routine as it can become a real depression machine for them.
