By the way, I didn’t want to have words with you about this specific thing… I didn’t see it as being all that important in the scheme of things. I’ve been on Free Republic for a while and never had any reason To get crosswise with you on much of anything, I’d rather not do it now, so if I said something that rubbed you the wrong way I’ll retract it.

You think differently then I do. I despise the term "right wing" The term is used as a pejorative no different then the term RINO. Which I used the term RINO (McCain) as a pejorative. Why would you label yourself as a term that is used as an insult?

I watched the video, it didn’t resonate with me, but I think it boils down to how comfortable one is in their own skin.

One life lesson I have learned is that there is only ONE thing in life you have absolute and complete control over, and that is: How you react to things. It isn’t easy to learn that, and it is an ongoing lesson, but I do find it useful.

However, like you, I believe words have meaning, and I m guilty of using shortcuts as a matter of convenience which is fine as long as it doesn’t impinge on the subject, or everyone accepts it in that context.

I didn’t actually refer to myself as “Right Wing”, in my post I referenced “on the right”. I understand how “Left wing” and “Right wing” actually have their origin in the French Revolution, but that still doesn’t bother me much since one, it isn’t in the original usage today, and two, if I had to make a choice, I wouldn’t want to be allied with the bloodthirsty inhuman scum who sat “to the Left” who were responsible for a terrible and unjust reign of terror in 1793 done in the name of “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” which is pretty much the lexicon of the Left today, or at least what they try to hide under.

I don’t use the term “Right Wing” anyway, simply because that plays into the hands of the Left who want to control language as a way of controlling people, so I don’t play that game.

Anyway, thanks for the opinion on these things.
