Cameras caught a suspected killer getting a beatdown from the people he was holding hostage in Phoenix.
Footage of the incident is just coming to surface now. It began as a normal day at a Circle K convenience store in Phoenix on May 9, 2018, but then 53-year-old Joel McClean Carson allegedly walked in waving a gun and ordered the clerk to lock the door. Carson then barricaded it.
Authorities said Carson immediately shot and killed Efran Hernandez.
The staff and customers were then ordered to a corner of the store. But as the suspect wandered the store, a hero customer lunged at him and the other hostages joined in on the attack.
Security expert Pat Brosnan spoke to Inside Edition about whether the hostages did the right thing by fighting back.
“They did everything right, it really is a textbook example where you really must bumrush the bad guy,” he said. “In this case, murdered Hernandez in cold blood, he demonstrated that he was extremely violent, and he promised them it wasn’t a robbery and ‘I am here to kill.’”
The hero even managed to grab the gun and then the other hostages were able to run for safety.
“I am not surprised by the courage of the ordinary person when they are faced with a loaded weapon and they are faced with an obvious cold -blooded killer,” Brosnan said.
The suspect was later apprehended and faces murder, kidnapping and illegal possession of a weapon charges.

I apologise. This actually happened in Phoenix. I am not certain why it showed up in the Detroit page, except that a 9 year-old girl was attacked and mauled to death by three pitbulls today in Detroit, and both stories showed up.
I do not know.
Perhaps the firearm did not function after he the first shot.
Perhaps, as the photo shows, there were so many persons attacking the murderer at once, that any more shots could have injured the (now) former hostages.

Maybe he was just there to ‘take care’ of Hernandez and the others just happened to be there???
Of course when he starts herding the ‘others’ to an area, an excellent time to brandish one’s own weapon and exercise one’s God given (and 2A) right to defend oneself.
Good on the customers ‘tired of this crap’ and taking action.
When LEO is needed it is usually 10 or so minutes away..
Years ago I read articles on how folks in Detroit took matters into their own hands, patrolling their streets, etc. The police either didn’t care or didn’t have the resources to handle the crime.
Sounds like that attitude continues.

Still waiting for some ‘national’ wall to wall coverage of the two ladies in Chicago that were ‘volunteers’ to stand on street corners so their children could go outside and play, that were apparently assassinated on a street corner and (as far as I interpret) were targeted in a drive by.
I say targeted as one of the ladies was apparently hit several times in the chest, which to me indicates she probably the target as ‘just happened to be in wrong place at wrong time’ etc doesn’t fit...but the CPD ‘pointed out’ that one of the people in the vicinity was recently paroled .....
Kind of like if someone knocks on your door and you let him in and they pick up your car keys and take your car, the charge is often ‘unauthorized use’ of vehicle rather than have the stats go up by calling it car theft.
I realize people need a job etc but I don’t believe I could work for a PD that told me to ‘turn my head’ if certain crimes were being committed.
Mayors/city councils/appointed heads of PDs will continue this game till they either drive all the VIRILE young men out of the game (sort of like the Military...if all that WILL volunteer is trannies/do funnies/weirdos etc one can’t complain about lack of protection..YET ‘we’(collectively) sit back and let them do it and endorse the same fools each election day)..
