Some years are wet, others are dry.

Funny how that goes.

The Phoenix valley only gets 35% of its water from the Colorado CAP project.

Good to know, thanks.

Where does the majority (or other 65%) of their water supply come from?

The Salt River Project. Arizona, long ago, realized that to advance agriculture they needed to capture all the water coming off the Colorado plateau to the north and the White Mountains in the east. They did so.

"Housing crash in Nev and Ariz?"

That's also coming from the insane initiative that was passed that 50% of the electricity has to come from 'renewable' energy sources by 2030.

Nevada will have California electricity rates and it will make the cost of living in the southern region of the state un-affordable. The summer electric bill will be higher than most people's house payments.

I drink bottled spring water. It is a manufactured product. It is also a commodity.

I was simply pointing out that both oil and water are natural resources.

Saying that the people of one State lacking a natural resource should suffer the consequences is a silly premise I M H O.

There would be a cost involved with a pipeline which the beneficiaries would have to pay for.

Oil is owned PRIVATELY. It is not a public resource. Who “owns” the water in the Great Lakes? Since they’re controlled by the states, we can safely assume they’re owned by the citizens of those states.

And those citizens have said desert states are not entitled to rape our natural resources so that Hollywood maggots living in what is essentially a desert can have swimming pools.

We’ve had relatively small industrial development projects stopped by NIMBY’s even out here in Lyon.
We used to have a slaughter house and attendant jobs here, until McMansions popped up next door.
Dairy expansion is on hold.
These same NIMBY’s complain there are no jobs locally for their kids.
But also apparently think spending 3+ hours a day commuting to and from Tesla is OK.
Probably seems normal to them, being from Ca-Ca land.

I don’t know what can be done about it within reason.
I do know I cannot just “Move” to escape it!

Funny, I never mentioned draining the Great Lakes to fill Swimming Pools in Hollywood.

My initial argument was we should be building Pipelines to get fresh water from where it is plentiful to places where it isn’t, rather than just watching it drain into the Oceans.

>>>And those citizens have said desert states are not entitled to rape our natural resources so that Hollywood maggots living in what is essentially a desert can have swimming pools<<<

We just moved from Southern CA after living there for sixty Years. Since we weren’t “Hollywood Maggots” and we never owned a Swimming Pool, I guess I must be out of touch.

Better to evacuate all the Southwestern States (or let the Americans there die of thirst) than figure out a way to get more fresh water there I guess. A bunch of Natural Resource “Rapists” don’t deserve to have fresh water.

I think we’re done here. Where we live now there is plenty of Water, screw everyone else.

I understand. The amount of unaffordable housing construction going on in Reno is ridiculous.

You moved to a DESERT! What did you expect besides a shortage of water??? And how does your need for water — in a desert — impose any obligation on anyone else to supply you?

Here’s an idea: MOVE!

The Colorado starts North of Rocky Mountain NP and collects most of western Rockies drainage before heading to Lake Powell.

Grand Lake, Colorado, adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park and Arapaho National Forest is at the headwaters for the Colorado river.

No, you obviously misread my Post. My Parent’s moved me from Long Island NY to Southern CA when I was six years old.

We sold our Home there and are living near my Wife’s Family in MS temporarily until we figure out which State to retire to.

Thank goodness we have access to Freon here. I sure hope some other State doesn’t corner the Freon supply and deny Mississippian’s from buying it. I hear those Hollywood types in CA and New York use Freon too.

Freon (besides being a banned refrigerant) is privately manufactured. I doubt any state could claim ownership.

Unlike a state’s water supply ...

Am I wasting your time or are you wasting mine?

I was attempting be to be facetious. I obviously failed.

We will just have to agree to disagree on the semantics and leave it at that.

Have a good day my FRiend.

Yup, been there and spent a week some years ago.

BTW, how the heck are you old timer? Something made your screen name pop into my head a couple of weeks ago. It is great to “see” you.

Yes, I'm in Denver for Father's day week and usually have dinner at Grand Lake Lodge with my son and daughter.

As I've heard the expression...I'm "fair to middlin". Been retired for 4 years now. Don't spend as much time on FR, but I do periodically search for three FREEPERS' comments as my definition of renaissance intellect. You are one of them.
