“So the Stones copied, too, eh?”
Everyone does. Think of every song that sounds like Johnny B. Goode.
Well, Katy Perry just got sued millions over a copyright infringement where there is a four note line in the arrangement that is similar.

According to this Led Zeppelin should also pay out big money for copyright infringement. So why does Zeppelin get off and Perry pay millions thru the nose?
As far a Achilles Last Stand goes — it’s the kind of song that makes Zeppelin into two different bands. When you hear
1. In My Time of Dying
2. For Your Life
3. Trampled Under Foot
4. Nobody’s Fault but Mine
5. Achilles Last Stand
you go, “Uh? Is this the same band?”
Thanks.
Dudes a moron.
Close, but no cigar.
Ironically Heart ripped off “Achilles Last Stand” when they did Barracuda.
I thought it a plausable explanation
Funny, my friend & I had the exact same experience (likely the same tour) w Aerosmith. Beck opened & was amazing. Aerosmith was so bad we left after a few songs.
I just listened to "Taurus" by Spirit and I can assure you that nobody is going to delete "Stairway to Heaven" from their music library in favor of "Taurus."
I might put on "Taurus" if I wanted to put a crying baby to sleep.
Yes.
I’m sorry. I mean his argument is that all the songs are the same.
Which is true enough.
He points out the similarities in the songs to say they are different.
But the relationship of the two songs is closer than just line cliché, as he attributes it.
Zeppelin took that part of the song, the music and produced sound, and built Stairway around it.
They gave no credit.
Check out this song, https://youtu.be/sYy716zmXcM
Bull Doze Blues. It’s Canned Heat, going up the country as originally recorded in 1928.
Canned Heat pretended they wrote the song.
Compare to when Bob Dylan did one of the old songs by this guy on his first album - he gave him credit.
Zeppelin is filled with songs that they ripped off, including people who’ve sued and won (Ritchie Valen’s mother, for example) and artists long dead with no estate who didn’t sue.
That’s right He’s dead. Let it go.
Time to Ramble On..
There are no 100% original guitar lines. There’s only so many notes, so many chords, and so much you can do in 4 4. You’re gonna hear something at it will rattle in your head and years later some variation of that will pop out of your hands. The meat of the case, and why Zep won, is that the it’s really just one chunk of a rather large song, that goes through multiple movements, that bears a resemblance. There’s way more to Stairway than the guitar line at 45 seconds.
1- Out on the Tiles
2- Ten Years Gone
