The car starts at $73,995 including shipping and a $2,600 gas-guzzler tax. Ford says it hasn't finished fuel economy tests.

BAD ASS! And actually not a bad price when compared to a new, fully loaded, diesel 4x4 pickup.

The engine is hand-built at a Michigan factory and comes with unique pistons and other parts. It can crank out 625 foot-pounds of torque, a measure of rotational force.
~~~
625 foot-pounds of torque definitely not designed for that Detroit area commute in January.
Forty years ago I might have been impressed. Today,I love the fact that my diesel will take me down the Interstate in amazing comfort and get 48mpg in the bargain.
And its sticker price is less than $74K.
Previous articles indicated a dual-clutch transmission, not an automatic.
I want mine with nitrous oxide.
Dual Clutch is great for racing where it can be rebuilt on occasion. Not so much for street use. People don’t like rebuilding their transmissions every couple of years.
I have no idea what is your point.
To: TexasGator; ImJustAnotherOkie
Whatever it is, it must be fairly large to accommodate 7 speeds and handle that kind of torque!
Or the 405 at any time other than 2am-4am.
Yeah, bet it's got a limiter too. :(
Some enterprising hacker will offer a custom chip soon though, I'd bet.
“Ford says it hasn’t finished fuel economy tests.”
They’ve got to work out the on-the-road-while-driving refueling system.
To: TexasGator
Dual-clutch transmissions have no clutch pedal, which makes them function as an automatic.
Lot of cars have DCTs these days.
