As a stage four cancer sufferer, I find this information to be very compelling.

Several years ago I overheard my dad’s cousin (undergoing chemo)tell my mom that she had no appetite except for chocolate. Her doctor said it doesn’t matter as long as you eat something. I had to almost literally bite my tongue to stop myself from saying “sugar feeds cancer!”

Perhaps her doctor decided that her situation was dire enough that it no longer mattered. She looked really good that night-perky and cute-but passed away a month or two later. I wondered at the time if eating only sugary foods made a difference.

God Bless you Windflier, I pray for your healing! I have experience with only one hospital due to my late Mother’s repeated visits, but they certainly didn’t give her a high sugar (much less McDonald’s) diet. It was a very nutritional, low salt, low fat, low sugar diet, so there is hope.

I would suggest you look into a low carb high fat diet.

Thank you for both. I’ve bookmarked them.

At lot of what some of the people at meatheals.com list sounds just like me. I’ve cut a lot of bread and sugar and feel better. Cravings are down and overall I feel better.

Last night instead of dining out, I made burgers here for us. No bun for me. I let a little cheese melt and a touch of ketchup/mayo. I didn’t miss the bun.

Every time a cell replicates, mistakes are made which differentiate it from the original. The more they replicate, the more mistakes. It’s like making a copy of a copy of a copy.....After enough copies, it is hard to recognize the original.

And that’s what cancer is — a genetic mistake typically borne from too many copies. The more you eat, the more likely (frequently) your cells are to replicate. Some foods are worse than others, with sugar being near the top of the bad list.

Doctors, hospitals and the entire medical/pharma industry don’t get paid without sick people. Think about it.

Brits Maurice and Maralyn Bailey survived 117 days on a rubber life raft in the Pacific in 1973. "They found they started to crave fish eyes... These are quite rich in vitamin C” source

Dark chocolate is full of anti-oxidants and theobromine. I normally eat 80% chocolate from Ukraine, 85% from Aldi, or 60% Ghiradelli chips. Often I drink dissolved cocoa powder in water. That’s 100% chocolate with no sugar. Costco used to have Rodale’s Dutch Cocoa which dissolved easily and tastes MUCH better than Nestle’s, Hershey’s, or Great Value. Some say raw cocoa is even better for you, but it’s multiple times the cost. BTW, “theobromine” literally means “God-food”. Cocoa powder has more than anything else. Theobromine is what kills dogs and is why you shouldn’t feed them chocolate.

“Hospitals feed cancer patients sugar and high carbohydrate diets for a simple reason: they are abysmally ignorant of the role of nutrition in health and disease”

One of my relatives was in the hospital not too long ago. They fed her sugary junk food with almost every meal even though she is diabetic. While she was there she was given oatmeal raisin cookies, apple and peach cobblers, chocolate cake slices, blueberry and bran muffins, brownies, fruit in syrup, little cups of ice cream and ice slushies, and lots of juices and diet colas. I thought it was absolutely crazy.

Thank God more and more people are doing their own research and not just relying on the professionals.

I don’t think any nutrition courses are taught in medical school. Too bad.

May I ask what initial form of cancer you had?

I’ve read research that sugar is probably not a good idea while battling cancer, but that it causes cancer? Not convinced.

What I would add to the discussion, folks need to look right on into our food chain.

We are acquiring food from all over the world now. We raise our own cattle, fruits, veggies and export much of it and in turn import foreign sources.

This is why we are seeing an increase in food recalls in the U.S. because of EColi, Salmonella and such.

Fields are turned so quickly from one crop to another, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides along with genetically modified products are entering the food chain. These substances are being absorbed through the root systems.

Can’t wash these fruits / veggies and rid them of these substances.

Furthermore, female mammary systems are so sensitive and I for one believe with no doubt that the increase in female breast cancers can be traced back to the food chain.

Sugar...not sure. Carcinogens in the food chain..yea.

What role does the immune system play in your analysis?

If you do a genetic test on a cancer cell, you will find abnormal numbers of chromosomes. Cancer replicates at random and with excessive chromosomes. And cancer kills because the ‘bad cells’ push out the normal cells trying to do their job anywhere in the body. I am not sure about the sugar connection, but I certainly can reduce/eliminate most of the sugars I take in.

Now hospitals have whole “nutrition” teams. You can get consultations while loved one is in hospital.

So surely they know.

They just don’t seem to care.

I try my best to keep any “added” grams of sugar to less than 25 grams a day, not easy.

That is when I’m behaving myself. Sometimes I fall off the wagon. :)

Well, if the immune system was able to kill cancer cells, there would not be a problem, would there?

Cells can self-repair to some degree and the immune system helps when they can’t, but its obviously not sure-fire.

My dad (who passed on about four years ago with cancer) did the Chemo, and simply had no real appetite. He would agree to do milkshakes. I knew at that point about the sugar angle to this (it’s widely discussed in Germany). But the problem is that if you have virtually no appetite....and this is the only thing agreeable, that’s pretty much the road you are stuck on.

Someone ought to come up with a fruit-type smoothie with no added sugar, but has some kind of elements that would give you a thousand calories per 24-ounce drink.

I think we’d all be better off to trim out the sugar products, and go back home-made items that we control the sugar and bad stuff. For the past five years, I’ve limited myself to one soda per month, and gone mostly to plain ice tea, beer, coffee and water as my daily drink.
