My son has emus near his hemp farm and he says they keep the coyotes and deer away.
Sounds like they'd be good at protecting our borders against coyotes. The deer can come in, though.

Emus can be dangerous to work with and be around. Their spurs can eviscerate a man in a heartbeat. They were numerous during the ponzi scheme of Emu production in the early 90’s. When the scheme collapsed around here many people just turned them loose. It wasn't uncommon to see Emu roadkill or be hunting deer and see an Emu run below the deer stand.
