The Cats movie released its official trailer on Thursday, which lead to wildly divisive reactions on social media as fans had their claws out, ready to tear it to shreds.
Taylor Swift stars as Bombalurina, who is seen in her tight catsuit as she sprinkles cat nip on the floor, with a cast that includes James Cordon, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba and Jennifer Hudson.
Despite the star-studded line-up in the highly anticipated movie, fans were sour on the 'terrifying' look of the Broadway adaptation, branding the CGI as 'unnerving.'

I remember reading a reviewer once, who after seeing Cats wrote something along the lines of - “I spent the first hour and a half trying to figure out what it was really all about, then I realized, it was about cats.”
The only thing I know about Cats is from the movie Team America. So I’m good.
Pass. I saw this on stage in London with Elaine Page in the early 80’s back when it was a big deal. I do not need to see it on the bigscreen with a cast of idiotic lefties. This is the type of show that belongs on stage.
The problem with movie stars singing such roles is that in spite of many months of training, they can’t come close to the original stars.
go to youtube and watch the original cast of Les Miserable Philip Quast or Lea Solanga, then watch Russel Crowe and Anne Hathaway sing in the movie. You’ll want to pull your hair out.
I have 3 real ones at home. I’m sure they’re entertainment value far exceeds this pizza chit.
I’m so excited I could just fill up the kitty litter box.
I also just saw the "Top Gun 2: Maverick" trailer. That looks like a fun movie, as well.
People need to lighten up. It's a bit silly.
Same goes for Andrea McArdle vs. Aileen Quinn in “Annie”
If that.
“Taylor Swift stars in her tight catsuit”
Ok, now you’ve got my attention.
Never liked this musical. And the trailer looks even worse than what I saw on stage. Awful.
I have no interest in seeing this movie. When it comes to cats, I prefer the real thing. That said, if you are going to make the movie at all, there is really no other way to do it. If you simply filmed the stage version, people would complain about that, too. Pull out all the stops, hold your breath, and hope for the best.
Cats is, without a doubt, the worst play I have ever seen in my life. Horrible, boring, dreadful. Music not that great, either, with the possible exception of “Memories,” which I have always hated, in any case.
Roger that. I remember the movie version of the musical Chicago. One of the best tunes in the show is the Razzle-Dazzle song. In the movie Richard Gere basically talked his way through the song because he cant sing.
Think Russell Crowe in Les Miserables.
