I totally support Hinkle and believe she should be on the team. And she likely will be after Ellis leaves.
That she was had to choose between playing and celebrating something that violated her faith in the first place is disgusting.
That’s the point. She lost her spot on the team due to her faith.
When you quote someone you should ping them.
There are many of millions cheering for USWNT, including President Trump who told the Team to win and invited them to celebrate their skills whether they win or lose because he: loves watching the very talented team.
LOL!!! You’re initial supposition is as moronic as you are. I’ll support who I want to support. That’s called liberty ... a foundation of these United States.
Even when Wambach was on the team, I supported them, because even though she was a Lesbo, she didn’t make a big deal out of it.
Plus she’s a Gator, so she gets a pass. ;)
After her recall, she said: "God is good! Honoured. Excited. Ready."Hinkle has been named in head coach Jill Ellis' 23-player training squad for the 2018 Tournament of Nations.
cute soccer balls
Well I was referring to the men’s team.
This has gotten kind of ugly, but it is a true statement that the politicization was due primarily to one player. It is also true that the others by their silence surrendered “the team” to that one player. Their silence is consent.
We saw the same ire directed towards the 49ers with the rich adopted kid of privilege who went all “Che” on everyone.
As someone with two daughters I am irritated that our national team could not simply “shut up and play” and I have shielded my daughters from what would have otherwise been an opportunity for them to observe a high level team and source of national pride. I am not sure what to make of the exclusion of the Christian player and don’t know enough to comment on it.
Bottom line is that I just want to watch sports and our national teams should represent all Americans. That is apparently too much to ask in America today.
FWIW - the present direction in women’s sports is that our next national team may be dominated by transgender players.
This controversy was unnecessary just like the latest chapter of the Nike controversy. Our nation is far too politicized and it seeps into everything to include sports. It is a shame.
It is also true that the others by their silence surrendered “the team” to that one player. Their silence is consent. The Team stands and sings the National Anthem. They also have an American Flag hanging in their locker-rooms.
To me this is not a TeamUSA...this is Tory Tuesday for me !!
It’s bad in itself to disrespect the flag, but to do it on at National Team for the USA is repugnant to me.
The coach made Rapinoe the Team Captain, which is worse. Also the team’s star Alex Morgan is a NeverTrumper and refuses to go to the WH if they win.
Thirdly, the best Left Back in the US has been axed due to her Christian beliefs and refusal, earlier, to wear a homosexual themed jersey. She was brought in for the Team USA tryout and let go. Dunn is far inferior as a player and everybody in soccer knows it.
TORY TUESDAY !!!
LOL, maybe the US fans can change:
“Two Wars and One World Cup...Dooo Daaah Dooo Daaah!”
change=chant
Now that the two opened the can of worms, I demand to know what the rest of the team thinks of it.
And if they get into a major fight within the team, then all the better. This is why you keep your mouths shut and play ball.
Winning or losing is often resting on a knife’s edge. Any BS can push you to the losing side. This is where the coach needs to step in. But since it is political and she is a special protected person, it won’t happen.
It is probably no loss for them because I don’t follow soccer. But if animosity and “bad vibes” is what they wanted, then they’ve got it from me in spades. And I wish them the worst.
When you are Headcoach then you can put women on the Team for being Christian.
President Trump tweeted directly to Rapinoe. Told her to win. Invited her and the Team to the White House to celebrate their skills even if they lose.
Why then do you keep crying like a baby about the other players?
Give it a rest.
Agreed!
As I mentioned in another post, winning or losing is often resting on a knifes edge. BS like this has the potential to destroy morale.
The coach should step up and clarify the situation. But he won’t because people will hate him for it; call him nasty names, and hate him.
This is why support for amateur and pro sports will disappear and fade away. We don’t pay people to hear their opinions, we pay them to play and win.
If they want to express their political opinions, do it off the field. If they do make the game political, then the team, the players, the coaches, etc. all are obligated to respond in kind.
Because they are hiding out. They and the team need to explain themselves.
