There is some place off the Florida coast which has a fresh water spring in the ocean. In olden times ships would stop there and refresh their water supplies.

“Scientists also said that if the water was to ever be processed for consumption, it would need to be desalinated.”

Do I have a different definition of freshwater?

I dove on a fresh water upwelling in the Gulf of Mexico. When the dive master told us what it was, I took my regulator out and swallowed some of it. It was clean and pure.

Probably not “fresh water” like most would think. The Black Sea is a literally a thin layer of sea water layered above the more dense fresh water.

Even lakes and ponds have some salinity to them.

When I was a kid there was an old guy that went to sea with his dad when he was 8 years old. He said they took on fresh water off the Amazon river 100 miles out while sailing past.

“More dense fresh water?”

Should be the opposite, actually. Temperature might play in here also.

There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Under the water, carry the water
Same as it ever was

The water deposits begin at around 600 feet below the ocean floor and bottom out at about 1,200 feet, researchers said,

So its 600’ beneath the ocean floor?

Not exactly what I was imagining.

"Researchers said that if it was discovered on the surface it would create a lake covering some 15,000 square miles.

Maybe I have it backwards? Is it saltwater that has less density and stays at the bottom?
I’m trying to remember back over 20 years ago in my Geography class in school. LOL!

All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.
