If Boston ever trades Chara and Bergeron I hope they go to the blues or coyotes. It was a great series. Two great teams and hard nose play. Sorry it’s over. They could play another 7 and I’d be there for all of them.

Binnington was hot tonight and Blues played a very good road game. Congrats to the Blues and their long-suffering fans!

The Blues beat up the Flyers pretty badly in two playoff games in the 1960s and that launched the Flyers to acquire Dave Schultz, Don Saleski, and Bob Kelly. Thus without the Blues I'd never have my Bullies to cheer on...congratulations to the Blues.

Oldest expansion clubs in the other three major sports leagues to yet win their first championship are:

1960-NFL-Minnesota Vikings-last appearance in Super Bowl was against the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XI
1967-NBA-Denver Nuggets-Entered American Basketball Association in 1967 and NBA in 1976, have yet to appear in a NBA Finals Series.
1969-MLB-Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals (oldest MLB team to not yet appear in a World Series), San Diego Padres (World Series appearances in 1984 and 1998), and Seattle Pilots/Milwaukee Brewers (appeared in 1982 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals and that was the last Cardinals World Series victory until 2006).

All time record for longest wait for first modern championship was the Philadelphia Phillies who took from 1903 (when World Series was first created) to 1980 to win their first World Series title against the Kansas City Royals. Did not win their first National League pennant until 1915 after entering league in 1883.

Wrong! Minnesota won the 1969 NFL Championship, their SB loss to Kansas City was pre-merger, so still they were the NFL Champions.

I won’t be surprised if Chara retires. He’s definitely slowed down a lot.

Great job, Blues. If only the Stars would not have...

Sorry, was going by Super Bowl standards only. Therefore, that would have the Atlanta Falcons (entered NFL in 1966) and the Cincinnati Bengals (entered AFL in 1968) as the first and second oldest clubs respectively to not yet win an NFL championship using the Super Bowl as the exclusive item (as opposed to the pre-merger standard as mentioned in your post).

He is a great player. He’ll be missed. Not by opposing teams forwards. Just us crazy hockey fans. He took a puck to the chin that would have ended most people’s playoffs, then came back. Heck of a player and person.

Time to dump Benn. He is getting old and slow. Like me.

They were great players but this team had better chemistry with each other plus the coach and management. It’s the intangibles that make teams winners.

3”s in diameter, 1” thick, 8 oz’s of frozen rubber. It’s got to hit like Ali. These guys are not sissys. The playoffs were great. Jamie Benn, Joe Thornton, Cedeino Chara, and others I don’t think are done. There’s more cups to be won. I’m a Blues fan and enjoyed this one. Now we’ll see what next season brings.
