A giant public artwork costing £45,000 dubbed 'Britain's worst sculpture' is going to be demolished just months after it was installed. The four stone plinths were erected in The Cornhill in Ipswich, Suffolk, last December as part of a £3.6m regeneration project aimed at bringing a 'wow factor' to the area. But the structures - dubbed Cornhenge by locals - quickly prompted criticism that it was an 'ugly waste of money.'

It looks like the kind of "sculpture" that you can find gracing any ghetto public housing project.

It’s just plain....not ugly. Dumb to take it down.

I could have created something just as ugly and charged only half what they paid for this.

Just plain dumb. Zero artistic value. Has zero usefulness.

It is also the type of "beautification" you get whenever some (Democrat controlled) city in Iowa discovers about $60,000 under the sofa cushions. Such money is never used to fix the potholes in the streets or hire an extra cop to deal with the hourly shoplifters at Walmart.

After further contemplation, the subject of the article makes for ugly sculpture but would be a comparatively attractive base for a railroad coaling tower.

So the objection is that it’s seen as discriminatory, not open borders/open bathrooms/open showers/open-ness?

It is what it is neither here nor there.

not worth 45,000 IMHO

Don’t know if it is worth tearing it down.

Now they just need to do something with Michigan's worst sculpture. "The Halo" isn't the nickname that stuck.

Did they hire Clark Griswold to knock it down?

But the artist was trying to convey how the average citizen looks at art. /s

My suggestion: Sell it to Los Angeles for £90,000 ($114,000). Tell them that the four structures represent the four letters in LGBT.

See? Sometimes complicated problems have easy solutions.

I don’t know about that...
