The reason for wage differentials between men and women is well understood and have little to do with discrimination by sex. Indeed, there are many examples of where women are paid more than men, especially in industries where piece rates prevail. Account for labor force participation rates, dropping out to raise children, over-supply in certain professions (e.g., teaching), and almost all of the gender differential disappears. I wonder what would happen if a study looked at pre- and post-transgender incomes. If sex explains it all, shouldn’t females transgendering into males see a total collapse of the wage differential?
Heck, if I could staff my company with all women and pay them less then men, I’d do it in a heartbeat, after all, I supposedly would get the same work at a fraction of the cost of using men. . .
