RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - Raleigh police said a 10-month-old baby choked on a pinecone and died at a Raleigh day care on Wednesday.

According to police, the baby found the pinecone in the yard outside A Hug A Day, which is located at 2705 Adcox Place. Officials said it happened during the day at the southeast Raleigh day care.

Neighbors were shocked to hear the news.

"I see people coming early in the morning, dropping kids off, picking kids up. I see kids play outside," said Mikea Nash. "I want to say my condolences to the family."

How did the pinecone get in her mouth? Yes I know kids put stuff in their mouths but why was there freaking pinecones in a daycare around small babies?

because daycare is not just for babies. A toddler brought it in from play outside. Why are toddler allowed close to babies?

I agree. We need to break away from the two-parent income trap and return to the normalcy of children raised at home with their mother while the father (who is married to the mom) brings home a paycheck.

This arrangement worked for countless generations.

A Hug A Day daycare? Really no one should be in daycare... Daycare is another indoctrination center of socialism!

Day care centers are staffed by people who are unfit for any other job. Those are a place where children are cared for by other children, which is to say that the young helpless ones are at the mercy of savages. It is entirely possible that “Lord of the Flies” was inspired by daycare living. Anyone who drops their child in one of those places should be ashamed.

Much better when a neighbor watched the baby while mom worked.

I watched a little one...the girl next door....until she went to school. She grew up with my 3 children.

My daughter was fortunate to have a lady down the street who watched a couple of the neighborhood children. Perfect

She died reaching out for her mommy

When are we going to stop this insanity

Millennials are made fun of. Geeze. They’re products of day ‘care’

We need to break away from the two-parent income trap

If couples would just sit down and calculate the cost of the mom working....

Daycare, gas, wear and tear on the car, clothing, tax rate, quick food cost (When I decided to stay home with the kids I was shocked how much we saved by my cooking from scratch.) and find out they are farming out their kids to make a few bucks an hour, they may rethink their decision.
