Donald Trump has confirmed that a warship named after his Republican nemesis, the late Arizona senator John McCain, was intentionally hidden from his view during his visit to a naval base in Japan this week. The president confirmed that the ship had been intentionally hidden, saying someone had taken measures “because they thought I didn’t like [McCain]”. The Wall Street Journal cited an email dated 15 May from an official at the US Indo-Pacific Command to US navy and air force officials which said the USS John McCain “needs to be out of sight” during Trump’s Memorial Day visit to Yokosuka base on Tuesday, the final day of his state visit to Japan. The email asked officials to “please confirm” that directive “will be satisfied”.

She is NOT named for the Senator, but for the admiral.

Apparently ship was named after all three generations of “John McCain”. Two Admirals and one Senator. Some insignia hidden by maintenance work in progress.

There were two admirals. McCain’s father and grandfather were both admirals. Whoever it was named for, it wasn’t the Senator.

I don’t think the president would really have gotten upset about a warship with the McCain name, but someone in control was taking precautions. It’s true that in many ways being an American President is rather close to being treated like a King.

The hell with it. I wouldn’t put it past them them to park the USS McCain right behind his podium, so they can create a photo op and then prattle on and on about Trump being overshadowed by the “legacy” of McCain.

NO HE DID NOT. I believe he just read the same news reports that we saw and forgot, for a moment, that everything they say is a frigging lie. Now they’re using his comments to “prove” their lies.

EFF THEM. ALL OF THEM.

wikipedia claims that they had a rededication ceremony on 11 July 2018 and it is officially named after Senator McCains grandfather (captain of the ranger during WWII), and his father (captain of some subs in WWII), both or whom where Admirals and Senator McCain

How pathetically ignorant these people are. I guess when you are too dumb to qualify to be a garbage collector or a cesspool pumper you can always get a job as a journalist.

It’s a pity that when he found out about this, President Trump didn’t take the opportunity to go visit the ship, thank the crew for their service and give a little honor to the ships namesake(s) and reminders of the Admiral(s) legacies.

Whether you like him or not, it probably wouldn’t do any harm to speak kindly of the recently departed, either.

Perhaps a little faint praise. :P

According to wiki, it’s named for all three.

None of this was true.

The USS McCain was in dock for maintenance.

The entire story is made up from start to finish by the msm.

I can understand the concern but
isn’t the ship named after his daddy Admiral “Slew” McCain?
