Secret FBI tapes that accuse Martin Luther King Jr of having extramarital affairs with '40 to 45 women' and even claim he 'looked on and laughed' as a pastor friend raped a parishioner exist, an author has claimed.
The civil rights hero was also heard allegedly joking he was the founder of the 'International Association for the Advancement of P***y-Eaters' on an agency recording that was obtained by bugging his room, according to the sensational claims made by biographer David Garrow - a Pulitzer prize-winning author and biographer of MLK.
Writing in British magazine Standpoint, Garrow says that the shocking files could lead to a 'painful historical reckoning' for the man who is celebrated across the world for his campaign against racial injustice.
Along with many US civil rights figures, King was subject to an FBI campaign of surveillance ordered by Director J Edgar Hoover in an effort to undermine his power amid fears he could have links to the Communist Party.

We know he was a rake & was fast turning radical by 68, but I’m naturally cautious where it concerns the FBI.
I do find it interesting that exactly one newspaper and a British one at that is willing to run this.
Think of all the streets and highways across America that will need to be renamed... and all the textbooks that will need to be thrown out and rewritten. The cost will be staggering just for those two items....

Many showmen lead two lives — the one they present to their audiences and their personal one. They can be better fakers than most of us. They can behave more immorally than most of us.
I have no idea what Martin was like behind his personal curtain.
I have a hard time believing this. Granted, MLK wasn’t the saint some made him out to be, but this sounds over the top.
Sometimes really sinful people do really good things.
Even if true, the USG will never release the tapes or confirm their existence. Too explosive. Civil unrest would ensue.
If he has the recordings let’s hear them. Otherwise it’s nothing more than the Trump p p claim. Though you won’t see these claims reported as fact by the main stream media.
He’s gone, and he left a positive message - irrespective of what the reality of him is/was. He left a family, and there is no good that can come of these types of salacious accusations. Let him rest in peace.
Hoover and the Kennedy’s would have destroyed him if they had these tapes.
