I remember how cool it was to see
the video feedback from the nose
of a missile as it crashed into the
moon. These were the closet images
of the lunar surface ever made up
until then. This is an amazing time to
be alive, astronomy-wise.
Number 2 would be climate change.
Apollo 8 orbited the Moon in Dec. 1968.
We landed July 1969.
I don't remember when Pres. Kennedy committed the USA
to reach the Moon. Was it in 1961?
So it took maybe seven/eight years with 1960's tech.
And people now act so wimpy about doing it
now with 21st Century technology.
White dudes, no PC bullshit, and no HR cornhole meetings.
The big difference now is that it’s existing technology- it’s been done before.

One of things Glenn did (and you would think he would know better but he was a Rat so maybe not!) was turn NASA into a jobs program! It then quickly started to lose focus, then it picked up all these strap hanger programs e.g., “Mission to Earth” which morphed into climate research. It continued to drink deep of the heady environmental brew. Then add in all the trendy “government program management bling” and it swiftly became another do nothing government bureaucracy.
From what I understand, Wernher von Braun was kicking the Saturn family rocket design around since at least Juno I launched in early 58,
Don’t forget: a large chunk of American economic and manufacturing capacity was behind the Apollo program. It was a core project to show the world that free people can not just equal, but better, the accomplishments of those Communism enslaved. We spent like we meant it, because we did.
Now? Beating China is a theoretical given, and lunar development makes for a slowly stretched out contractor pork-a-palooza. If/when China puts a man on the moon, then it’s back to being a core priority, because only then is it an existential threat.
The LIB lunatics say we’ll all be dead in 11 1/2 years...so, who gives a rat’s a** about anything? Party ON!!!
That was before diversity and affirmative action.
You fail to take into account the required EPA environmental impact study.
What’s stupid is spending money on the made for public consumption US space program.
Our black space program already has tech that far surpasses these public displays.
I think we need a location for the detention facility for Obama and Jarrett.
The Moon will do nicely.
Not funny that the game is already afoot to block human’s from the rest of the solar system. Labeling it as a giant nature preserve is the ploy.
Send them now. The dention center can come later...much later.
I know. They are pussies with out adventure.
True, there needs to be an awakening of what is really possible with all that has been hidden.
Like a kitten with out the viking...
